That would make sense, and gives me an idea for a diorama involving a Tiger I....

The rockets and launcher rails have now been fitted:

The rocket layout has been amended since this was taken, and the canopy is on and getting masked ready for a coat of primer:

To continue with my scratchbuilding epic, I have now decided to add navigation lights and landing lamps using clear sprue offcuts:

Once fully cured they will be sanded down flush.

Steady progress today, I have managed to get a coat of primer on, and whilst the airbrush was set up I decided to have a go at pre-shading. Not as easy at it looks. :???:

Image

I have also added a few blobs of Maskol to try the weathered look. I have now got the base colour on, just the green to go.

Really neat work Chip looks like fun. Liking your scratch additions, just got this kit recently myself, so great to follow your progress along.

Cheers

Painting is now complete, I used the blue-tack and paper method for the first time:

Image

I am quite pleased with the way that it turned out, and no paint lift, so that is a major bonus.

I am currently painting the black and white stripes on the bottom, then on to the decalling. These do not look too promising due to the age of the kit, so I have given them a couple of coats of klear to hopefully hold them together.

Nice. I've yet to have success with that method. Although I would like to retry it but using silly puddy. The problem is my silly puddy has vanished. I think my kids stole it. Damn little urchins...

Some progress over the weekend, the build is now complete and the decals are on:

Image

The decals behaved reasonably well, though the top roundels refused to sit and once dry lifted at the front:

Image

I have tried to remove it but the rest of it is firmly stuck down. I plan to do some heavy weathering on it to make the best of a bad job, starting with an overall brown wash...

If you put a drop of Klear under the front of the decal, and then score along the front of the panel line with a sharp blade, you can probably get the decal to settle.

Nice work on the kit :)

Thanks for the tip Andrew, but I have already "Battle" weathered it:

Next step is to put my cunning plan it to action with regards to my spare rockets..

This is now finished as far as it's involvement in the GB goes:

Image

The idea of fitting the rockets as being fired was inspired by the painting " CLASH OF THE TITANS " by Len Krenzler:

http://www.artcountrycanada.com/krenzle ... titans.htm;

I hope to replicate this in some way by using a previously built Tiger I:

Image

Image

The Tiger will need re-painting, and a new bigger diorama base needs building but hopefully you get the idea.
