Splash's lightning ***finished***

Post by splash »

Time to sort out a little wind. :-D

I have had these in the stash for some time as part of an impulse buy.

The box contains two Tornados with two different marking for the "25th Anniversary of the GR" & "Shiny Two"

Due to the parts make up I think I will spray the parts on the sprue and build it painted.

Cool markings. Will you be building both or just the one?

You get what you pay for over here! ;-)

Very basic and dated kits, the Dragons...and far from accurate. That said, the supplied 1/144 ordnance is very useful and the decals are worth the money for the kits.

Havering started the kit. I have to say you are right, I spent fifteen minutes just trying to get the three parts to the CP together, having just had a tough time building the Airfix Widgeon I not going to waist time on this kit so I, going to look out for the Revell kit and as you say use the decals on that build.

To stay in the GB I'm swapping kits and will now build the Tamiya 1/100 scale Lightning this must be a better kit?

If anyone needs a Blitz kit this is the one to go for, low part count good fit quick to build and a simple colour scheme, what more do you need?

Not havering built a Lightning since I was a young lad, I was not sure if they are tail sitters so just to make sure I added two .22 air gun pellets in the nose.

Within 1/2 hour the main parts of the kit were assembled so I thought I had better slow down and play with something else until the glue sets :-D

I'm starting to think twice about this kit the fit of some parts are not up to the normal Tamiya standard and it will need (shock gasp horror) some filler.

I think this must be a re-box by some other company, does anyone know its back ground?

I think the 1/100 scale kits were an attempt to go to a more metric scale by Tamiya.
1/72 and 1/48 scale make sense if you measure in inches and feet, but 1/100 is 1 cm to 1 metre, which would be much more intuitive for those folks used to metric measurements.

List of kits here
