Not sure which one impresses me most; the models or the fact that you're going clubbing…
Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

I often wonder about seal clubbing. I mean how do they hold their drinks? How do they dance? Are they allowed to smoke in the club? What do they drink?
Can anyone answer these burning questions?

1730 EST 08 Feb -- 19.5 down, 4.5 to go

Finally, looking like something ….

Image

The M1919 is done, save it's ammo can & belt and any wear & weather I might want to do ….

Image

The M1917 is drying. Long story, much of the last 2 hours has been figuring out how it goes together, then realizing if I had really tried I could have corrected the accuracy errors in the mount, but not now. It takes 3 hands to get the mount assembled to the gun. It was not pretty. In the course of it, I knocked the barrel off.

Image

But timing is perfect. We're off to the club for an hour or so. That gives the barrel plenty of time to dry. Other than that, this one is also in the touch-up, detail, wear, & weather stage ….

Back in a bit ….

They are looking very sharp. It is nice to see something unusual done for a blitz.

How was the club?

These are looking a bit special. Great work on two very unusual models.

All the best.

Those weapons look really great John, even though the big boy gave you some trouble. I agree with the others, it's good to see something a little different.

081930 EST, 21.5 down, 2.5 to go

Back from the club, got another beer to keep me going ....

Final assembly, detailing, wearing, and weathering ....

Only "biggie" is getting the ammo belts reconfigured and that's only because I'm dealing with some kind of flexible plastic that'll probably resist everything ....

I'll see if I can get an interim picture up, maybe it'll just be finals ....

I'm going to be in bed before you finish these up I think, so best of luck.

2030 EST 08 Feb, 22.5 down, 1.5 to go

Waiting for glue & paint to dry ….

As I feared, the M1917A1 tripod wasn't going to hold up -- a real bummer. So I sat on the floor, assumed the proper sitting firing position, measured where my hands were and proceeded to get my model gun at the same height. I tried Blu-Tac to hold the legs, only partly successful as they kept collapsing at the joins. I then put a Lego platform under to hold it right and gently applied some Tenax to each leg and let it sit.

Image

When that seemed dry, I turned it over and gave it a heavier dose of Tenax where it couldn't be seen. When dry I flipped it rightside up, checked the tripod was still level, turned it back over and added some superglue to it all.

Image

I also have a scheme for the ammo belts. I put a little tab on the underside, with superglue, and then I'll superglue the loading tab to the belat and the little tab .. that ought to hold it.

I'm touching up paint right now ….

I should note that one is never too old to outsmart oneself … I tacked the gun down right in the middle of the bench and have had to work around it ever since ….

Next update will be the last, at or before 10pm EST ….
