Re: John's .30-cal double build -- * * started * *
2115 EST, 8 Feb -- Finished at 23.15 hours, with .45 hr left ….
Done. All parts present and attached, well a couple minor things to fix. Paint & glue more or less dry.
The M1919A4. The only issue here is to tame the ammo belt, I thyink I need some heat or perhaps a few delicate slices on the underside to loosen it up so it looks right. I have closed the lid on the ammo box, unrealistic in real life, just to hold it in place for the picture.
The M1917A1. Yes, it is still on the Lego base -- I'm going to let those legs have overnight to do whatever they are going to do. The ammo belt falls fairly well, but the inside of the box is almost bare -- in reality if thise were the end of the belt then there wouldn't be a loading tab, but rather old empty belt hanging out. The other issue is the overflow hose, which is too stiff and perhaps too long. The water chest is in the correct location and set up properly but I cannot get the hose to run to it correctly. If I were smarter, I would have filled the water chest with weight to keep the hose from moving it around.
Oh, well, glamour pix tomorrow, after I see if I can cure the belt and hose issues. I'll do my summary then.

If they'd had Lego on Guadalcanal, I sure they they would have used it as well...jRatz wrote: I then put a Lego platform under to hold it right and gently applied some Tenax to each leg and let it sit.

Excellent John - those look real enough to fire. I'll try and time manage the rest of my build as well as you did. Maybe. Probably not as I'm rubbish at that sort of thing
Great finish, with different and interesting subjects, well done.

I'm very impressed, John. Out for meals, out clubbing, playing with lego, console games and still had time to fit in 2 great looking builds,
Very well done!
