Sissels little Cr(ying).42 Falco ** FINISHED **

Post by Sissel »

Trembling, but think I can do it. 8-)

I am gonna take the easy way out and do the all dark grey version. It's the one I had actually planned for this kit anyway as I think it's pretty menacing.

Look at all those struts! At least you can read the 'picture book' while glue and paints are drying!

Ooooh a biplane and one with a serious amount of struts. It should make for a challenging blitz and I look forward to it. Two blitzes in one week, you are keen Sissel.

True that. I'm seriously bitten by something. I don't know what's wrong / or right with me.
Am already thinking at a third blitz subject, gonna study the instructions in bed now. Someone help me please!

Will be interesting to watch, I built this kit a couple of years back in the winter Swedish scheme, I recall struggling with the struts at the time but then I was also lacking experience on bi planes back then as well.

There's nothing wrong with you, wanting to blitzbuild is perfectly normal, isn't it? :ha: Other than 4 other Gnat kits the only other contender in the stash that I would be prepared to sacrifice to the Gods of Blitz is an old Airfix Skyraider. I'll see how the Gnat goes first but if I can squeeze the Skyraider in as well I will. Or I'll save it till August.

Excellent choice.. and a challenge, too.. this Blitzing is kind of addictive, isn't it? Good thing it only happens twice a year!

Addictive? Perfectly normal? I don't understand the language.
No, Shaun. You can't SAVE the Skyraider. It needs to be blitzed now!

Yeah, I am a little worried about the struts. But I have a feeling it will be smooth. I have a plan in my head. I just hope it leaves my head and heads in the direction of the workbench when I start building!

I'll be dreaming of struts tonight, and it aint even Friday! :ha:

It's the challenge with biplanes getting the wings done. I built a Fokker DVII last year and that wasn't too bad but it had fewer struts than this Falco and I wasn't trying to build it in 24 hours. I found it easier to fit the outer struts and then the inner ones, with the model laying on its top wing. I hope it goes smoothly for you and I agree, this is an ambitious blitz subject. But ambitious builds are the more satisfying if you can pull them off. Best of luck with it.

The Skyraider is shaking nervously in the store cupboard....

I've done a little reading about this kit beforehand and one important thing strut me.. ehm struck me. The fit of the struts is supposedly very good.
I'm keen at giving it a go and I think it's possible, even for this little average modeller. :-D

If all struts fail, there's nothing an intake of Courvoisier wont fix, and then a little magic and suddenly all stuts in place.

Midnight, time for sleep now. Need to go shopping for nutrition tomorrow morning before the show begins in the other thread. ;-)

This one will look damn fine I'm sure. Good luck with it Sissel.

All the best.

Ok, I've started.

Lovely weather today as well, screaming for a hike. Colder but I like that. 8-)

Starting easy today, accompanied by Courvousier and good Danish Bayer.

Sprue shots looks good. Minimal with flash but some trimming necessary. Fine and crisp mould.
