Re: lancfan's Chipmunk Blitz build - STARTED !
The filler has dried and has been smoothed down. to fit the canopy correctly in the open position I needed to reshape the rear top decking, shown more clearly in the inset close up shot.

The leading edge has been built up with a thick layer of Revell aqua paint to lift the 'D' box back to the same level as the fabric details.

Nice going David. It's good to see the old Chipmunk getting built. I have a few of these in the stash and really ought to get some of them built.

The masking has been removed and the new leading edge smoothed down, the nose, tailplanes and undercarriage legs are in place and the model is ready for painting.

Great work David, that is a natty looking Chippy. Just don't get tempted to "have 5 minutes" in the chair eh?

Painting has now started, the white undercoat for the trainer bands has been applied and this has been masked up on the underside in order to begin work on the main silver finish.

With the yellow trainer bands in place the next step will be varnish and decals.
