Blitzing a WWII Harley Davidson
Re: Blitzing a WWII Harley Davidson
I'm disappointed now. I was looking forward to seeing a 1:9 motorcycle Blitzed.

You could always start Philip's BIG BLITZ thread for him…Ian wrote:I'm disappointed now. I was looking forward to seeing a 1:9 motorcycle Blitzed.
Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

By the time we've bullied him into submission the Blitz will be over.

BIG BIKES. THAT'S WHAT WE WANT. THE BIGGER THE BETTER. 1:9 SCALE? THAT'S MORE LIKE IT. MORE MANLY THAT IS.

Never built a motorbike kit, has fewer parts than expected. Should look good though

Ah you see, Saxon, the small kit has only got a small number of parts. We have now started a campaign to persuade Phil to build the BIG 1:9 scale kit that he originally teased us with at the start of the thread. The BIGGER KIT of course has a BIGGER number of parts and is, we believe, more of a man's blitz subject.Saxon wrote:Never built a motorbike kit, has fewer parts than expected. Should look good though
He knows he wants to build the BIGGIE really.

Re: Blitzing a WWII Harley Davidson
First off, a big SORRY to Sissel. I appreciated your comments and got where you were coming from. As mentioned by others I tried to make a small joke of it and seemed to have failed miserably. Maybe that is why I am separated.
As to the bigger bike, sorry, I don't own the kit so starting a thread won't help any. Not my scale anyway but the idea was just too good to pass up.
I am currently torn between the bench and the hockey game I currently have on. think I am going to have to try and move a little stuff up to the livingroom for a bit.

Re: Blitzing a WWII Harley Davidson
Ok, watched Bones and the hockey game went into overtime. Luckily Nashville scored in just 28 seconds so i could concentrate. Now watching Castle while the glue dries. Then just got to paint the tires, engine, lights and seat and it is done.
First off a little dinner.
Interesting how it looks like the same meal I had during the Triplane build. Weird.
Anyway, I was a little worried about getting the brackets off the sprue without breaking them. So, a little secret I have learned (the hard way) is to cut the sprue near the tree edge. Then you can cut the part from the left over sprue with less chance to flex the part. That done the few parts went together with only a little fuss. I really am going to have to get an Optivisor or something to see these things if I keep trying to build these small things.
So, parts are together and the glue is drying while Castle tries to get his daughter back. The kickstand even works as I am not sure how this will end up being used.
Let's keep the ladies rockin.

Teeny tiny! Can you put something next to it in the next photo so we can get a proper idea of its actual size? A penny or a paint tin. Something that we will all know the size of.

Ok, done with 30 minutes to go.
The bike is 1 and 1/4 inches long or about 3.5 centimeters for those inclined. Might try a penny shot tomorrow if the weather holds but supposed to be another big snowstorm here so we shall see.
This has got to be the one of the smallest models I have ever built, even smaller than those AT guns I did last year.
And one last lady singer to close out the day.

Re: Blitzing a WWII Harley Davidson
Plenty of time left for a Colditz style diorama with Steve McQueen being dragged out of the barbed wire while the bike is left hanging?

Nice work Philip, that certainly is a tiny little feller. Some great toons on here too. Quarterflash, Harden my Heart - I haven't heard that for years!
