Fat Lady Warming Up.. mmD's Penultimate Blitz... Done.. just
At some point early on during this Blitz I set myself the arbitrary target of 15 completions.. we're at 13 and I have something planned for the final one.. and also out of Stash kits to Blitz.. however I wandered into Modelzone in Holborn and while perusing their sale section found this for the princely sum of £1.99
Eeeeeexcellent.... (in the voice of Monty Burns)
We are go at 20.00..

I thought so.. it was all on its own in the sale section with no price tag (and I've never seen it for sale in MZ either, so I assume it was found in some dark corner of their stockroom) I asked an assistant what the price was, expecting to hear £7.99.. and when he came back and said £1.99 I merely answered "Sold".. it looks like a smashing kit..ShaunW wrote:You cannot go wrong with that Mike for £1.99! really looking forward to this one..

Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong but I think this was originally a Matchbox kit. I'm not surprised you snapped it up for that money. Roll on the penultimate MMD Blitz then!

It sure is. And you can tell, just by looking at it... (It's even got the PK-107 still visible on the sprue) The plastic has that "Weighty" look and feel and despite some flash, looks like a winner. And for sub-two-quid... yeah. Bit their arm off.

Nope - can't find it. But I am 99.99% certain he did Blitz one.Ian wrote:Give me a min

And we're off...
Some sprues
Glorious Matchbox Action..
Mmmmmmmm
Matchbox Mould + Revell Decals= Happy mmD Time
The standard Revell obliteration of MB info on the sprues/parts..
Scalemates says 1974 for the original tooling.. so two years older than me, then...
Rapid rattlecan priming is first.. then interior work...
Here's The Spencer Davis Group with handy Finnish subtitles

Looking forward to watching this one progress. I have a couple of these in the stash and I have built a couple. It's a damn fine kit.
All the best.

68 Decals.. even by Revell standards, that's a lot.. some of them are just pin-pricks..we shall see how the build goes.. I'm back at work so after I stop tonight (which may be late: there's Hockey on) so tomorrow's build will only resume around the 17.30 mark..I bet you don't use all those stencils!
Just dry-fitted the fuselage... oh my. I love Matchbox...

Yes, you can tell the MB heritage there by looking at the sprues. I'll bet you've got this largely built by the time the hockey comes on.

Quite possible.. Revell have provided decals for the flipping insides of the doors.. amazing.I'll bet you've got this largely built by the time the hockey comes on.
Obviously doing lots of tedious interior work pre-assembly.. here we go
love that fit..
bits..
and here are Jurgen and Bruno... Jurgen is big into his Lomography and has a great collection of plastic toy cameras that cost a ridiculous amount of money. Bruno is a season ticket holder at Schalke. He like beer, football and faded denim. They're the classic "Odd Couple!" (I smell a Sitcom!)
Chicago used to be a great R&B band.. then Terry Kath accidentally shot himself in the head playing with an "Unloaded" 9mm pistol.. and Pete Cetera dragged them down into tedious 80s MTV-Rock (and the theme to Karate Kid II).. this is how bloody good they were, once upon a time
