Re: Historical References
I'm probably not going to make this build as I haven't got everything ready for my ICM Chato and Airfix Henschel but a very good source of information is the following book, which I've had for years awaiting my Spanish Civil War build!
Spanish Civil War Air Forces by Christopher Shores, Osprey Publishing London, ISBN 0 85045 135 3.
It is full of contemporary photos - mostly in B&W - and details on aces, campaigns etc. There are notable images of aircraft not often connected with the war, such as the Hawker Fury in Republican markings and colour plates with Republican markings for the Potez 540 and Polikarpov I-15, Nationalist markings for the Heinkel He51, Legion Condor Markings for the Dornier Do17F-1 and Civil War Italian markings for the Fiat CR32.
There are also colour plates illustrating flying dress uniforms for both sides and khaki service dress for a Legion Condor Oberleutnant as well as a plate illustrating a Ford V8 Model 79 truck with Hucks starter gear, in case anyone is thinking of an airfield diorama!
I hope that's helpful to someone anyway!

Re: Historical References
For those looking to build a Do17 . . . I have an Airfix E/F and may end up doing one of the Pablo Bros
