Saxon's HE-51 ***FINISHED***

Post by Saxon »

Signing up with the Hasegawa He-51 in 1/72 scale. I have the Condor Legion boxing which comes with two kits and a choice of 3 different markings. I am thinking about doing one in the overall grey with the top hat decals that you don't see in the box art and at another time the second one will be done in the top version with the Mickey Mouse decal.

Great looking kit and one that I considered for this build.. looking forward to seeing it. there's something vaguely disturbing about a tooled-up Mickey Mouse on a Fascist aircraft.. insert yer own Walt Disney joke here

Great subject choice Saxon.

I have always fancied doing one myself. Will watch with interest.

Anyway as it is the 2nd of Feb here now I have started and this is where I am at so far.

And yes Mighty Mike - Mickey Mouse and Fascists are an interesting mix!

Second update, really well engineered kit, the struts to attach the upper wing were quite easy as their bases were already moulded in the right angle. I think if I wanted to I could finish this is in 24 hours, maybe still might!

Yep it went together alot easier than I anticipated, well engineered when it comes to the struts between wings and a one colour scheme, Hase even provide white decals so you don't have to mask and paint. I would have liked them to provide black crosses on those white patches as well as I tore one of them on the fin but we'll call that weathering!

Anyway all done. Would have liked more pics outside in the garden but is a very sunny day and only have my phone to shoot with so it made it difficult.

Blimey! First completion to Saxon! Fantastic work. I like the angle that the pilot's head is at.. looks for all the world like he's having a snooze in the sun

Thanks for your comments.

MightyMike - Just noticed the position of the pilots head, I might try and adjust him!

Nah, leave him as he is, he has just landed from a patrol and is staring at the sky on a sunny spanish day.

lol I had another look at the pilot this morning, they have moulded him with his head back looking upwards, I thought I may have made him look asleep by how I positioned him. He is enjoying his nap!
