OT's 'Little Tank' ***Done***
I am going to join in with this old Esci kit:
I wanted to join in the AFV group build but didn't have time so the SCW build has given me the option to build this kit.
I remember building the Panzer 1 command tank in SCW colours many years back so (if I can find it ) a diorama might be in the offing.
I have some figures somewhere too.
Time is tight for various reason this month so I may blitz it next weekend - the only free weekend I have for a while.

Still, with my eyesight it should look awesome.

Watching this one with interest OT, will be good to see a bit of armour instead of wingy things!

Re: OT's 'Little Tank'
Right then, with all this Blitz business going on it is easy to forget about the other group builds. But I have not forgotten, I have started & will upload some pics as soon as my phone is recharged.
What I have done so far:
I hope nothing pings off, I'll never find them.
I can sense the carpet monstar circling.
These kits seemed much bigger when I was little.
What I have done so far:
- Read the instructions. Always helps.
- Applied an undercoat of light aircraft grey to the parts on the sprue. This is just so I can pick out the really small details - my eyes ain't what they used to be.
- Painted the main parts Field grey. not sure if this is correct but will do unitil fully assembled.
- Started adding the wheels (tiny, tiny ) to the suspension.
I hope nothing pings off, I'll never find them.

Re: OT's 'Little Tank'
Firstly I must apologies for the quality of these pics, my phone ain't so hot in poor light.
Here is one of the wheel assemblies:
It was not that hard to build just fiddley. Follow the instructions, that's the trick.
There are some even smaller parts too.
I was suprised to see tracks like this though:
I thought they would all be seperate links.
I have glued the underside together & am working on the turret at the moment.

"Small and Fiddly and Smaller, Oh My!"
Looking good so far. It's the sub-assemblies that put me off AFVs.. I can never seem to get all those miniscule parts on the suspension/wheels right..

Hi OT. Nice so far.
If I recall, this kit has comically oversized machine guns. I think I got some spare MG 42 barrels laying about. PM me if interested.

Re: OT's 'Little Tank'
Thanks for the encouragement gents.
It is mostley sub-assebly, then join the sub assemblies to the bigger bits.
It is quite satisfying to see the whole suspension coming together.
At this point dear viewer there should be a picture of my progress but photobucket seems to have eaten it!
Back to the project. I dug out this Panzer 1 command tank that I built many years ago for wargaming the SCW.
As you can see it is missing a few bits - gun barrel, searchlight etc. so I will tart it up for the diorama I am planning.
I will try to do the same colour scheme on the new one. Basically grey\green with field applied brown splodges.
I have no idea how authentic this is but I don't care. I think I had some unpainter figures somewhere too, Morocan Moors I think. Wish I knew where I had put them.
To be honest I was a bit intimidated at first but a steady hand, a pair of Reverse Action Tweezers - they grip the part for you, then just follow the instructions.mightymikeD wrote: It's the sub-assemblies that put me off AFVs.. I agree with you mate, they look to be at least 20mm cannon so should scare the bad guys.Softscience wrote:Hi OT. Nice so far.

I will just stick with the kit parts for this one. I am not taking this too seriously, it's just a delve back into armour modelling. Thanks for the offer anyway.

Re: OT's 'Little Tank'
This is where I got up to last night.
I spent a lot of time on the markings as the ones supplied are WW2 era.
I intended to pose some of the hatches open but I think I will close then up now. I have also missed a bigish piece out of the back of the hull so will have to bang that in too.
So tonight I aim to get the turret on & the hatches closed up.
Then I can camo it up & start weathering.
