The colour division line has been masked off and the uppersurface has been coated in green, the next step will be to paint the light grey disruptive before removing the masking tape.

With the (field applied) crude camouflage complete the next step is to mask and paint the red bands around the rear fuselage and the outer wings.

Going off the decals instructions it appeared to have been delivered in standard Soviet blue/grey undersides with green on top and the disruptive was painted on crudely in the field, and looking at pictures of these they seem to have been individually treated with no two being alike using different patterns and colours, some also being more professionally applied than others.

The main paint scheme has now been done, the model has been varnished and the decals have been applied, These particular decals are taking a little too long to dry down for my liking but with a little patience they should be fine.

The main paint finish is now complete and the decals are down and varnished over. The undercarriage legs have been attached and the model is perched on paint pots to allow the glue to dry.

My Tupolev SB-2 is finished at last, despite its age and some heavy flash on one sprue it has scrubbed up quite well.
The now quite old Esci decals were a little thicker than normal but behaved themselves with a little help from Revell decal soft. The model was detailed by following pictures of the full-size and scale plans found online.

Now there is something I don't see everyday. Very attractive camo scheme, especially with the red stripes.
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

That scrubbed up rather well David. A top build of something you don't see very often.

I see you have found a use for those little paint pots you get with starter kits. I will nick that idea.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
O_T, the Airfix paint pots are completely useless, they are too small, don't stand up when the lid is open, the lid gets in the way of your brush and tries to drip all over the carpet and when you close one up it splashes paint on to your hand. I decant them into standard Airfix tubs (or empty Revell starter set tubs).
