:) Your kind words are welcome here.
Look, I just got buzzed by a Caravelle!

Image
....it made me start so, that the kit almost fell out of my hands ;-)

...my hand on the pics shows how small this model is! Had to use Super-zoom to get decent photos of it.
I´m surprised that it´s looking so decent now, cause I still remember the time I had the first look at the sprues!
In the box it really looks toyish!
I didn´t do so much to better it: biggest thing were the scratched windows, there were only holes in the fuselage!
What else? I shortened the pylons of the engine nacelles, were a bit too long.
And quite a lot of filling and sanding on the wing-to-fuselage seams!
some cutting on the boundary layer fences, but they still look funny :???:
Some sanding down of the too prominent rivets all over, that are so typical for 1960ies kits.
Scalemates tell you this kit originates from 1964???
If that´s true, the lead/ trailing edges of the wings and elevators are very good for such an oldie.
This was not the last airliner kit that I built, really make some difference with their colourful decoration :-)

So now, I turn my attention to my Mig:
To my big disappointment, I had to notice the lack of deep trenches on the kit, so I just had to add some of my own trenches, to great skill:

the air brakes were only faintly scribed in by Matchbox, so I deeeeeepened the scribing " a bit"
only noticed later, that I over-did it....

Now I´m thinning down the leading edges of the wings. Have to do this, cause I reduced the wings in size, used wings of a KP Mig-21 as template for that (KP´s 21 is said to be very accurate in outline).
I did cut off of only the leading edge, so I only have one edge to work/repair on, now.
I was crazy enuff to decide to change so much about this kit, but back then, I was still adventurous
Back then, it was like: "let´s see, what I´m able to do with this!"
This lay on my s.o.d. for more than 2 years, now it´ll be finished for sure.

...have to thin out the leading edge of the rudder, as well, was oversized, too - like the elevators (did trim them already,
was far more easy, much less plastic to thin out)

Nice work so far, and scribing the air brakes seems to have worked out rather nicely. I still see this kit turn up once in a while but have enough Fishbeds in my air force for now!

I wouldn´t buy it a third time (have to admit I have another one in the stash).
With this, I mean PK-19! One day, Matchbox re-worked their PK-19, and sold it as PK-41, now declared a MF-version.
The outline of PK-41 is far better then the one of PK-19.
Some things got worse in this version, though, f.e., the jet intake.
Makes some work to look alright, too, that PK-41..... :-|

Looks as though you have it under control. Still really digging that Caravelle too. Sooner or later I have to have a go at the one I just bought.

After a slight delay here are my final pair of builds, two zeroes left over from the Zero GB.

A conversion of the NT Airfix kit into the A6M2-K trainer.

And an OOB build of the Academy A6M-5

Ok I'm just gonna put it out there, how about a finish date of 1st June haha!
A year long shelf of doom Shared build sounds good to me.

Work has slowed down things this week so I have used most of my free time at the bench and not online. A catch up report will follow on Saturday morning.

I want me Mig to get some bumps on her fuselage, so them big wheels can fit in her belly.
So I raided my spares box, then I remembered I have some lousy looking wannna-be Sidewinders/Atolls, that I´ll never use as such, so I´m cutting ´em up, to become those funny looking bumps:

Image

Then it´s time to fit in that "nose exhaust for the boundary layer air" (?? I really don´t know about aerodynamics??) which I scratched.
After this I´ll draw some sprue, to become "odd rods", cause I broke off the ones on the kit a long time ago!
( I really want to finish scratchbuilding on this kit asap :frown: )
....But, then: it´s time to prepare for priming and painting!
Smoothing out the filler, washing, to get the grease (and old dust) from the kit, and then the colour!
