Did catch a little cold, and too much work in the "real" life - hope I´ll get her done tomorrow.
That'll be flu, not a little cold......sheeesh, you'll get the rest of us in trouble!
Best wishes

Gee whiz, my Mig is breaking the cardboard barrier:
Image

...now it´s Monday, and she´s not done yet :-(
...for Russsian radome green, I used Vallejo´s green zinc chromate, which is a close-enough match, to my eyes

Image
Isn´t green zinc chromate lighter in colour? If I´d use it as zinc chromate, I´d mix some white into that colour!

Red coat sprayed on:

Hope the tape will lift off without taking underlying coats with it! I did the masking 6 days ago, so it´s really time, to take it off!

 This ....."budgie" is fighting me all the way! While handling the model, the left wing got a bit loose.
Because I didn´t want to scrape off all the paint to re-glue it, I used a size 0 brush with liquid poly on it,
to fill up the broken joint. The poly crept into the fine gap, yes, and obviously under the paint to weld the
plastic together ;-) .......but I needed layers, and layers, and more layers to get a smooth connection.
Including the colour touch ups, this kept me busy for hours!
For today, I leave it, as it is, leave the workbench, and do something different, to restore my sanity :???:
(Sometimes it´s way too easy to start cussin´ )

Ha, that cheeky budgie won´t win!
Today I resumed work on it - red touch ups have been done.
I hope that that loose wing was the last real hurdle on the way to the finish line!

Certainly is a red devil Crash. 8-)
Amazing what you have achieved with this old kit. Fine work.

I finally got my little Panzer completed after 30+ years.

I really enjoyed finishing the tank but not the commander. I don't do figures.

I just realised that I have forgotten the turret hatch. Doh!
Hope to get some pics taken in daylight and posted in the Armour section soon and then choose another victim from the pile of shame.
Maybe a NASA Starfighter next.

Nice tank there, OT! Thank you for the compliment - but it´s not over yet!
One decal tore:

Image
I should´ve known better, those decals from a Bilek MiG-21 kit are looking good on backing paper, but very thin, too!
Have a Propagteam look to them - and that´s how they behave!
You shouldn´t touch them with softener, it only makes them more brittle!
Only plain water did it, and shoving the decal with a wet Q-tip VERY GENTLY AND SLOWLY from the paper onto the model,
right into position, when shoving it around on the model, it breaks!
At least it can take Micro Sol, which I used to get rid of some little silvering.
So then, I had to paint up the missing parts of the decal:

Image
For my first try on replacing a decal by paint, I´m satisfied.
Now some weathering, varnishing - and then: fly-out.

Now just some varnish, and I´ll call her FINISHED! Finally, the odyssey with this kit is over :-)

I call this finished, except for some very little touch ups on the canopy.
I want to use the scarce daylight now! for some photos:

Image

Image

Image

Image
....this build has been some kind of "pyrrhic victory", because the time amount for it was CRAZY!
I could have built at least 3 other kits instead, maybe even more!
But now I can say that I finished the most "demanding", no, I better say: masochistic build that I did so far! OOB, this kit looks very different!
I believe this is the worst kit Matchbox ever kitted, and I say this as a critical fan of MB.
But no more dissing on this kit from me, because before I started cutting up the fuselage/wings/elevators/rudder/canopy: almost every part of this kit, I knew what was expecting me!
---But I underestimated the time needed to make all these changes to the kit, so she became a shelf queen
for almost 3 years.---
I had lost interest in it too often. Without this forum, it would´ve never reached the finish line!
So, thank you! for accompanying me thru the build :)

gave the canopy another polish, but not much difference:
Image
Canopy is so distorted, that is has a funny effect on the pilot:
seems like he´s turning his head, whenever I change the side/ angle from which I look onto the jet
Matchbox should have advertised this, like:"kits now with LIVE pilot! turns his head all on his own!"

...and: someone must have thrown a firecracker into the exhaust :frown: :

Any comments welcome.
(Can't believe that I finished it -
never before did a build test my patience so much! )
