The trick is buy the 1/72 GR3 and show her the box and say look what I'm building, then build the 1/24 scale kit and say "Honest it looked smaller in the box" .
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Not many hours to go till we officially start this one.
I think I'll wash the resin parts later this evening so that they are dry by tomorrow, then I can start painting the cockpit parts.

I looked at the instrument panel last night and thought it looks not bad for its age but lacks any detail in the dials and the decals have very little added details.

My cunning plan is to find a photo of the IP, correct it for parspctive error, re scale it down to 1/24 then print and punch out the gauges and add them to the IP.

I did this on my big spitfire build and it looks OK.

First attempt at the IP shows that it might work, all I need to do is find a better photo or technical drawing of the IP to use.

Well I've started - tonight I built up the cockpit, the main engine and some of the bulkheads and wheelwell assembly.

I have to say that although the fit isn't brilliant, it's not bad either.

Pics to follow tomorrow.

Cheers

Work continues - I've finished putting the internal bulkheads etc in the fuselage. I might actually order the resin airbrake bay as there is no detail in the kit.

I've high hopes for the resin intakes, the ducting just clipped into place on the resin parts. Once I've cleaned up the moulding blocks I shall start to fit and blend them into the fuselage.

Cheers

As I'm not going to build this with a removable wing I'm not going to do anymore to the engine - I do need to start marking out and detailing the cockpit sidewalls though. I think a little detail there and on the back wall, should be enough to make the cockpit better along with the resin bang seat. I also want to scratch some throttle and Nozzle levers and do something to Jazz up the control stick.

The Fwd U/C bay could use some work, the rear is compleatly lacking in detail but as the doors will be shut thats less important.

Cheers

ah... Just trimmed off the moulding blocks on the intakes - the fits not quite as perfect as I thought it would be. It's going to take a bit of work to get a nice fit.

So the first big job to tackle is the intake and ducting fitment.

Cheers
