The interesting engine just out of shot is the prototype uprated engine for the planed Super Sonic Harrier, it produced three times the power of the original Harrier engine but only got to the ground run stage and never flew.

The original was dangerous enough. I wouldn't have wanted to be around one with that much extra thrust.

Hi guys,

Well then…. Judging by the lack of progress so far – myself included, I’m still messing around with Resin intakes) - I can see why it takes people years to build this kit.

As (thankfully) this is not a GB, but an SB, Can I suggest we just update this thread if and when any of us make any headway? That way, eventually – we’ll have some finished builds…maybe.

And I’ll promise the mods not to suggest anymore SB’s….

I wouldn't worry - everytime I open the box I go giddy at the amount odf plastic in the box and need to go and have a lie down.

I'm at the painting stage!!!!. I have reached the end of the construction pages and have green camo on the top and side surfaces, struggled to keep going a week or so back thinking I had difficult bits to do including the undercarriage but then I realised I had decided to model it in flight. Onwards!!.
Also had a problem if anyone else hasn't reached this bit. The slots for the under-wing pylons were not there when I went to attach the pylons. It seems the slots are covered by the usual thin bit of plastic although I can't find anything in the instructions that tell you to open them. Luckily the sun was out (I know!!!), and coming straight through my model room window so I could see where they were. I marked them with marker pen and drilled holes to open them up. Sorted.
Phew, is that enough/too much of an update?!.

Well done Mark I'm glad one of us is still building, The cold weather and other projects have kept me away from the Harrier. My bench is in a un-heated conservatory so I'm working on smaller kits on a tray in my living room on the nights my wife is at work. I'm also experimenting with making silicone moulds for resin parts.

I'm lucky in that I have the third bedroom to cram my model building into!. It's not a massive room but it's amazing what you can get in when you try!!. Plus it has a radiator!!.
Anyway, enough smugness!!!, here is the Harrier at present. The camo pattern is a little off underneath but I will try and correct it with the grey. The outrigger wheels are also a little off in smoothness and that was one area I found difficult. Best to glue the out riggers in place before the main door part is put on and to put the collar parts that go on just above the wheel before that.

I feel your pain fellas, but I've been enjoying reading about your labours. I'm not sure about the rules for an SB like this, so I'll ask anyway - is there any chance of jumping in on this one - I have the 1/24th GR.1 (original boxing), the Gr.3 and the Sea Harrier, all vaguely started but all have been languishing for years - from the number of parts in takeaway containers I suspect there may actually be two GR.3's but can't be sure. The GR.3 will be in the Spanish or Thai decal schemes as I like to be different just for the sake of it.
