Good stuff going on here. And Splash, that little Harrier looks great.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

I have to say Splash I think you are a braver man than me trying to fill in all that detail - Are you planning to re-scribe the kit afterwards?
I've not really progressed any on this for a while - My modelling times been a bit scarce over the past month, but I'm hopeing I can crack on with it soon.

Hi, crawling along myself. Have started on the piece that sits on top of the engine, gearbox I'm guessing?, That's about it after the engine itself and the cockpit/pilot, the latter still armless!!.

It's going to be a bit hard for him to fly it with no arms

So how long are the pilots arms?MarkyM607 wrote: "Managed to get the engine glued and the swivel arms inside it"
Only access panels, last Saturday I was looking at a Harrier close up and you can only see the rivets if you look really hard from a low angle, but some of the removable panels do stand out slightly.Sir T wrote:Are you planning to re-scribe the kit afterwards?
I'm starting to think panel lines on a 1/72 scale kit are a waist of time.

Of course!. Have found his arms!, and attached with Blu-tack as I may re-position them if I model the aircraft on the ground. However the engine, while not being 100% detailed etc, is enough of a build to deserve being seen so I might use the stand so I can remove the wing. Added cockpit, front and rear wheel bays to day. Intakes assembled. Will post pics when I sort out my disc(k)!.Dazzled wrote:His feet, of courseMarkyM607 wrote:Oh dear, what have I started?!?!. From past experience I find Harrier pilots get enoyed if you remove the wings when in the hover.

Good point. They don't need them while hovering though do they??.

Excellant Job Mark - that Pilot looks great!
I've pretty much finished my P-51 so I'll be able to pick mine up again - what grey did you use on the cockpit?

Thanks, got to get into figures again, probably this sort of size though, not the GW stuff I used to do, most is too small in details for my older eyes!!.
As far as I can recall I followed the kit instructions for the cockpit colour, Humbrol 196 I think..

I agree Excellent job on the pilot Mark.
With luck I might get my I.P sorted out this weekend as I have found some good instrument images that might scale down well.
