Progress so far. It has taken a lot of filler to get rid of the seam lines/gaps on the underside...

Same as mine. Working on the nose piece today and just may "Dremel" my way around the seam. Least I am moving forward.

thankfully mine has needed less filler but the nose cone was a really bad fit, totally different profile to the fuselage. Pics up tomorrow

James:- I can't take credit for the turbine idea, saw someone do it on a Javelin a while back

Apologies for not posting but haven't had a lot of time lately. after finishing my main job I'm working afternoons at Kingkit

Anyway progress so far

As previously said, the nose cone was a different cross-section to the fuselage. To help get a better fit I removed the locating tabs the butt joined it. Then filler and sanding to blend it together.

Couple of sink marks needed attention on the spine and nacelles

Extreme tail was missing too so had to be built up with filler

Primer on, photo went very blue??

Decaling under way now, so far the Rocketeer decals are brilliant (famous last words  )

That is looking excellent KH.

Plenty of filler needed there Mark, in my personal experience one can never have enough filler for 90% of builds :ha: Keep at her, it'll be alright on the night I'm sure.

I am known for applying it quite thick, same with peanut butter, my dad says I'm laying bricks!!. But this did need a fair bit. Perhaps if they hadn't tried to make the top part of the fuselage with part of the underside on it, and just had a seam along the side it would have been better. All but done now, pics today or tomorrow.

Here's the only pic I can find of progress. Have fitted the canopy and undercarriage since this one, decals are going on now. Will find up to date pic later today.

Nice one Mark. The Blackbird is a mean looking aircraft that's for sure!

Ta-Dah!!. Don't really like that phrase but it works here!!. Blackbird is finished. Did one of these years back and it must have gotten broken before I had decent display space. Glad to have done it again and added (re-added?) it to the collection. Thanks for suggesting it, it looks good next to my 1/48th Lightning!!.
