I've put the seats on the detailed and extensive cockpit area... well a floor and two control sticks :ha: , one of which broke so only the left seat can fly the aircraft. Not much good for a trainer I know, but the canopy is thick enough to hide that!!.
I also have the Freightdog Models VG conversion set that I used on the single seat RAF version. It's designed for the Airfix NT Lightning so may need a little fettling to fit but hopefully it should go.
That's cool Mark!

The Xtradecals Type 'D' roundels I ordered for my P.1b arrived today and the 66" roundels were promptly cut from the sheet and applied to the model as soon as I returned home from work.
Finished, English Electric P.1b XA847 as it looked when on display at the RAF Museum, Hendon from 1972 until 1988.

Those are two stunning looking build David - you're really on a roll with these.

In fact you've inspired me (now I finished some other projects) to crack on with my Matchbox T.55

Nothing picture worthy yet - I've got the cockpit bulkhead and floor glueing in place and I'm working on the wings.

Cheers

I remember it well Stuart, a classic MatchBox kit of what was an unusual variant- just the kind of subject that MB did best, such a pity that Revell chose the old Frog F.6 kit over the two Lesney tools when they released the Lightning.

Progress so far on the Navy VG Lightning. I'm not going to change the undercarriage although I might try and make it look beefier for a Navy aircraft. I had to do some work on the inner wings as they aren't meant for this kit and didn't fit perfectly. The wing root forward had to be sanded and the tab that goes into the fuselage slot was too long and a little to thick so that was adjusted. As these wings are meant for the Airfix F.6 single seater they needed more adjusting and sanding at the rear wing root. They also slanted down quite a bit so a gentle bending upwards and the addition of thin plastic strip has made them a lot more level.
