Re: E.E. Lightning SB 'The Lightning Boys!'
I'm declaring my F1 done. Only mods to the old Afx warhorse are: removed cable ducts, reamed out exhaust fairings and added afterburners, shortened the overlong stabilizers, repositioned the gun ports, sharpened the radome and replaced the wimpy Afx Firestreak launch rails. The decals are a mix of old Modeldecal and Esci!
There's a few things I goofed up along the way but I am happy with the overall result and apologies for the poor pics.
This is Lightning F1 XM141/D, 74 Squadron, RAF Coltishall, June 1960.
The F2 will go very slowly for a while as I need to focus on the Mbox and Cargo Hauler GBs.

I also need to slow down for a little while just as soon as the P.1a is finished as I am in the same two GBs.

No worries Gents - enjoy your GB's.
David that F.1 looks superb - I really like how you did your NMF, and those additions really help improve the model - great work!
I've not done any modelling for over a week now, other than five minutes here and there. I'd forgotten just how busy February is for me!

Making up the undercarriage doors came next, when these had been painted and fitted and the tailpipe blanking plates had been cut from plastic card, fitted and painted the model was finished.
Finished, English Electric P.1a WG763, Air and Space Gallery, Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, UK.
Moving on to the Lightning F.1a, the tailplanes and flaps have been fitted and the slight gaps on the wing/fuselage joints have been sealed with grey primer.

Great work on that P1 David - It's certainly different from what followed after it.

Re: E.E. Lightning SB 'The Lightning Boys!'
I had intended to make my models in mark order but I realise that I have missed one (two if you include the Short SB.5) so to correct this I have bought the old Airfix Lightning F.1a to add to the pile and convert into P.1b XA847.

The Airfix Lightning F.1a has arrived and will take it's turn on the bench to be converted into the P.1b Xa847 when the Sword Lightning F.1a is complete.

Re: E.E. Lightning SB 'The Lightning Boys!'
I've been building a VG/swing wing lightning which I totally forgot to post. It's the Airfix NT Lightning F.6 with the Freightdog Models VG conversion set. Very easy set to prepare and use, just needs a bit of dry fitting and testing as far as the wing root joining the fuselage is concerned Will post asap....
(Actually I thought we had finished the SB, not sure why?....
