Re: Civil engineering. The Airliner S/B
The Comet has made some progress. I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago and it has moved on further since then. The next set of pictures should (hopefully) show the finished article. As you can see, plenty of masking and unmasking has been required.
The main issue now is improving the wheels. The kit's wheels are less than realistic but I may go with them. I'm thinking of way they might be improved.

Re: Civil engineering. The Airliner S/B
I've found a complete set of airliner wheels in my spare parts box - I think from a long scrapped Airfix VC-10. They look like they might make a half decent set of replacement wheels for the Comet.

That is really starting to look more than a bit special. Nice one.

Those are some very nice looking build Eric - So are all the windows on that Douglas decals?
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

Re: Civil engineering. The Airliner S/B
Yes, they are (apart from the astrodome on the top).
How windows are depicted on decals can vary. The Aer Turas DC-4 as depicted by 2-6 attempt to replicate the reflectivity aspect of glass/plexiglass by having a "painted on" variation in tone on each window. I'm not 100% convinced about this technique but it looks OK. Most airliner window decals simply depict a black or dark gray square or oval - which I think I prefer.
Some of the window decals I have in my decal stash depict window blinds in various states of open/closed - which I think is a nice touch.
