Time for another Bench Queen. This time it is Hasegawa's 1/72 F-104G which I intend to do as NASA bird like this.

Image

I was lucky enough to see this in summer at the Smithsonian air & space museum in Washington and it has inspired me to finish this kit.
So here is my starting point, main assembly complete just a bit of filling and sanding required.

Image

Then canopy masked (I will do the canopy framing later) and with a coat of Halfords white primer (for plastics).

Image

And next two coats of Xtracrylics White. Looking shinny. :)

Image

I will give it a coat of Klear to seal in the white then mask the fuselage about half way up before applying the blue underside colour.
More to follow. :smilie_flagge3:

That ´ll become a nice Starfighter ;-)
Currently I´m at an old Frog Spittie Mk I, which I want to finish as a Mk II, by sanding the spinner to a blunt tip :-D
After my last tedious build, I really need something undemanding, to have fun with!
First, I wanted to airbrush it, but then I wanted to save myself from all the masking, so I grabbed for the brush!
The Mustangs have to wait a little more, because they´ll get a little more effort from me (but I don´t want much effort right now :) )

Now a pic of my rather effort-less looking Frog with a sloppy paint job done with flaky acrylics....

....from a distance, it´s not too bad looking

Wow that Frog kit brings back some good memories. Good to see an old friend again.

I managed to get some colour on the Starfighter this weekend.

Just about ready for decals.

Spitfire is looking good Crash!
I always think that but once decals and clear are on it makes the model look much better.

Lovely looking Widowmaker OT!
Looking forward to seeing both progress!

I have done some work on the Harrier T.10 but pics wouldn't show the progress as its all filler work.
I bought a battery operated sanding thingy mabob for £1.99 the other day and its working a treat, I just need to get used to it but its helping my Harrier along in all the corners that I cant get to.

To my great surprise, that old Frog comes out with a not-too-bad shape, in the end!
Even my messy paint can´t conceal this. In the box, it looks very "dinosaur-ish", but as long as you´re willing to putty, file, and sand, it´s looking the part (and, mind, it comes from the 50ies!)
EDIT: I forgot: cutting! I cut makeshift wheel wells into the wings, because there were .... none!
....The fact that I used some parts from the spares box, helped too ;-)

Decals going on the Starfighter:

Image

They are a bit brittle and the blue band has broken up in places so will need a touch up. With hindsight I should have painted the blue fuselage band on and added the Nasa logo over the top. :???:

As it is the blue does not cover all the area it should anyway so I may need to paint the extra assuming I can match the colour.

Image

I will continue with the decaling and see what it looks like before deciding what to do. There are lots od stencil decals that I would not usually bother with but on the white surfaces they would show up so I'll have to add them.

That Starfighter really looks the part now she has some Decals!

I've been working on the T.10 for the last few days, stupid me somehow forgot how to fill and sand to get seamless joins!
After the final bit of filling and sanding here she is after a quick splash of primer to check the joins:
