Re: Shelf Of Doom SB *1st June - 1st September*
Wow ok were 2 weeks in and I have my first completed Shelf of doom model!
ItS the 1/72 Sukhoi SU-7 Fitter.
The nose looked abit too bare so I found a decal with a bird of prey letting go of a bomb.
I'm having issues with copying bb codes using my phone with flickr so I will post pics tomorrow.

Nice work Mav. Gotta love an old school speed machine like an Su-7.

Re: Shelf Of Doom SB *1st June - 1st September*
I have painted the wheel rims etc. and coated the whole tank in Klear ready for the decals & some weathering.
I've also started work on the tracks. Must admit not having a clue here so I am giving them a heavy rust wash.
I plan to apply a heavy dry brushing with a steel colour and then a very light dry brush with some silver to suggest wear.
Once that is all dry I will fit the tracks and weather the whole vehicle. Does that sound like a plan?

Looking good OT!
I did a small portion of work on the Horton last night but had to stop as I just wasn't in the mood.

Yes I find that the mojo is definitely required when modelling. So many other distractions these days.Maverick231 wrote: I did a small portion of work on the Horton last night but had to stop as I just wasn't in the mood.
Fortunately this little Panzer has my juices flowing.
Kudos must go to Tamiya as those 30 year plus decals behaved perfectly.
I just need to dirty this up now, paint the commander and maybe add a bit of stowage (if I can find some).
And sort out that gun barrel.

I'm sure it's a lovely model mate but I can't see the pic!

Bloody Photobucket! Links fixed for $0 not the $300+ they wanted.Maverick231 wrote:I'm sure it's a lovely model mate but I can't see the pic!
Here is the state of play with my little tank.
I'm sure you can see that as Imgur.com are not a bunch of pirates.
I am just painting the commander figure and some stowage to make it look a bit busy.

...So very soon I´ll join in with my Caravelle, here´s a first impression of the state she´s in now:Crashpilot wrote:If no one objects, I´ll move my "started...ruddy well to be finished"-Caravelle to this shelf of doom SB?!
I scratched some windows, there used to be just gaping holes there before! ...but this is just the little starter kit
of this plane, in scale 1/200, it´s not the bigger one from Heller!
...oops another Heller kit I´m doing! But after the Caravelle comes MB´s MiG-21!
Waiting for the day, when wars for territory will be something to be read about in history books only.

Just a quick note to say I haven't forgotten about the forum, or died, of something similarly idiotic...
I'm proud to say I've devoted 100% of my bench time since my last post here to this project. Sadly, 100% of nothing is still nothing
Real life has really messed up my modelling work for a while, and seems likely to carry on doing so for a while yet...

Re: Shelf Of Doom SB *1st June - 1st September*
I'm keen to jump in. Does it have to be only one kit at a time? I have a fearsome shelf of doom at the moment, trying to get the following knocked off it for a WW1 club theme at the end of the year:
- Sopwith Camel 2 seat trainer
- Sopwith Ship's Camel
- Sopwith Triplane
- 2 x Avro 504K
I tend to work on kits in parallel, especially if they are much the same aircraft.

Must.....build....ALL the Sopwith Camels!...

Re: Shelf Of Doom SB *1st June - 1st September*
Well, here goes....
Revell Sopwith Triplane is SoD build #1. I started it with some Camels and will be building it into Black Maria using some leftover decals from a Camel kit.
The moulding is ancient and offers no interior detail, so this is what I've come up with.

Re: Shelf Of Doom SB *1st June - 1st September*
...so much left to do before priming can start:
...smoothing the joints, fill a few sink holes, that´s it!
Next week the club I´m in comes together for one "modelling evening" from 6 to 10 pm, I´ll take this little planey with me,
should be enough time to make her ready for primer!
It´s a shame I don´t have enough time for modelling right now... I´d be happy, getting my s.o.d. empty

Nice work so far everyone!, I'm hoping to carry on one of my kits tonight so I'll hopefully have a post for you later!
