Thanks, GMG. It's growing on me. Quite amazing how small the Harrier family were compared to contemporary jet fighters (Lightning, Phantom, etc).

Yes I was surprised at how small they are when I was at the Boeing Museum of Flight in Everett WA. Tiny even compared to the MiG-17 it was parked next too.

Thanks.

I am still pondering joining the Hunter build and then the RAF 100 and my own 617 Sqdn GB. So I am not sure when I'd get back to this SB but I have in mind the original Airfix Harrier converted to T2 using the old Air Conversions set. I have already cut up the Harrier and the conversion bits (designed for Frog kit) seem to be a good fit.

I'm back modelling after an enforced break due to my operation. I've had a burst of activity on the Harrier, there's a few thin lines and so on between parts to fill but nothing major. The intakes are another story, I had to fit them as best I could and sand down the bits that were too high. Just a case of scribing the intake doors although I am modelling the aircraft in flight so they are closed. Only outlines to do really.
Image
The tail and other bits. I've had to glue to tails on as the bar between them, that allows them to move as one broke on the sprue and wouldn't glue.

I'm leaving the pylons off until she's all but done, for painting and decaling purposes. There's only one strake on the underside as I'm trying to make or but a Sniper Pod for it.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Looking good Mark!
I need to sort the last little bits on my T.10/12, paint the T.4 and carry on building the Airgix GR.7.

Painting underway, I've got into the habit of painting before finishing the model which helps with access to certain areas, especially on the Harrier. The only problem is to avoid going too far and painting where you DON'T want to!!!.

I've actually just painted the underside but took the photo before hand

Here you are. The underside has one coat on but needs another. Weapons are on. Got a slight problem with the canopy as the rearmost part seems to be missing. Something I didn't notice until I'd glued it on!! .

It's actually quite sunny today so messed up the picture by not realising the shadow problem. Will rectify for next picture. Also can't find the RAF specific pylons that go on the outrigger front's but have a Harrier spare parts box so might have some in there. Unless Mav's had them all!! :ha: :ha:

Thanks!. Apart from the shadow of course. Anyway, I've done some staining along the underside of the fuselage, based on a picture in one of my many Harrier books. Looks reasonable. I'll do some better pictures and show it. No outrigger pylons I'm afraid. All I seem to see on the large inner pylons are large fuel tanks but I don't want to put those on. Need to find some Paveway's!!. (The Gr.9 kit comes with a Recce pod (I think that's what it is) and a Sniper pod).
