A new kit to play with in this new year.
It's my first and only Harrier; I'm not normally a jet builder. If I feel like building a jet, though, it would be one as cool looking as the Harrier.

Still waiting for some AM to come through the mails, so I won't be starting right away. Very soon, though. Going to attempt the Arctic scheme used in Norway.

Looking good 59North!
You can never have enough Harriers but for me 1 Harrier seems to little for me.......

Back from the holiday break. These pics compare the canopies and their fit.

The narrower (correctly shaped) GR3 canopy leaves a shoulder of plastic exposed that I needed to carve off each side of the upper fuselage. Port side only is done in this pic.

Nice work on fitting the lid dwomby!

I've now done enough to get a pic of my progress.
All the weapons pilons have been glued into place, the sidewinders and adapters have been glued on:

Painted and loaded the ferry tanks and ordinance today.
You'll have to excuse the yellow stripes on the bombs, I've never been good at weapon detail, I'm even worse with weapon decals!

My Mrs was shocked and asked "could you get anymore onto that Harrier!?"
The answer is no so my target has been achieved!

Who's going to be the first person to tell me Harriers cant carry that amount of weight?

Harriers can't... never mind!!. They could probably carry that much but no vertical take off!!!. And you could have got more on it if you'd used gun pods!!!!.

Minor progress - pilot and seat in, tailplanes and noseprobe added. That noseprobe will be the death of me, I already bent the end once. It's really delicate.

Sorry about the poor pics.

Had the silver paint in the airbrush for the Swift and thought I'd paint this too. Not too bad considering I didn't prime it to cover the red filler I used.

May need another thin coat and some contrasting panels.

We have had a slight booboo with some masking. My fault. I was lazy and didn't prime it  I'll try to sand it down but it's acrylic and sometimes it doesn't feather well........fingers crossed.

I'm declaring this one done.

Image

To break up the silver paint a bit, I applied bare metal foil on the upper wing and leading edges. Not overly successful. Also, in the process I broke off a flap and didn't put it back on quite straight. Of course, it broke of really easily the first time but when I tried to break it off again to correct it, I couldn't budge it without using more force than I am willing to apply!!!

All through her final stages that @&$*!%# nose probe has been terrifying me even though I protected it with a plastic tube. It's a teeny bit bent at the tip but at least it's still all there!

I decided to depict her in a hover, so that means wheels down. I hate painting wheels!!!

I found a couple of photos of XP836 without any of the horrible intake bulges (metal or rubber!) so that's the markings I chose. Strangely, she wasn't wearing a fin flash or underwing serials in the pics, so that's how I have finished her. The Airfix decals were good.

On the whole, it's OK but I'm not too pleased with it. One for the back of the shelf.

Thanks for watching. Comments and suggestions welcome.

I may try to sneak another in this SB later in the year.

Oh, I don't know, David, that looks very boss from where I am standing. Very nice work, especially that nice NBM scheme.
