Airfix Spitfire PR XIX 1/72 -- AndrewR & Narayan
Re: Airfix Spitfire PR XIX 1/72 Now building!
So I go up to our main loft this morning, to put some stuff away for the Beloved. In the process of moving boxes, I came across an unopened one and discovered it to be full of my books and some kits.
Amongst the books was my Modeller's Data File on the Griffon-powered Spitfires, so I did some quick scanning, uploading and emailing to work.
This may be too late for some of you, but could be useful for any future PRXIX builders;

Thanks Bruce that's very useful. I have made a decal for the instrument panel which looks vaguely like that drawing! As I'm putting Juan Armed-Bandit in the cockpit there's not too much in the way of necessary detailing to be done. It's certainly useful for those wanting to pose the model with an open cockpit.

Besides the UK, the air forces of the following countries operated the PRXIX;
Sweden
Thailand*
Turkey
*Thai PRXIX's were in the same paint scheme as the later RAF machines, (H165 over H230), with Thai roundels at 6 points and Thai fin flash on the fins.

Is Tuesday the 10th?
Whilst this isn't a Blitzbau, I'd certainly recommend this kit as a Blitzbau subject. Got it all built and my first coat of H230 on.
Regards,
Bruce

The tube behind the seat is a Perspex cylinder which was filled with silica gel, which acts as a moisture trap and prevents the canopy fogging up. Usually the crystals have a dye in them which changes from bright blue to bright pink when the gel needs changing (it's reusable, the water is driven off again at 150 deg C).

I did not knowe that Andrew. Nice little bit of trivia for us Spit lovers.

There's some good progress being made here. I must admit that I'm not a great fan of panel lines in a Matchbox stylee either. It will be interesting to see how Brews' model looks with paint on compared to those built with OOB panels.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

No progress from me today as I had to take number 2 son to the hospital and was there waaay longer than anticipated! That was late afternoon so has put me out of kilter ever since. I have the rest of the week off though so hope to make good progress the next couple of days.
As Merlin said this would be a great blitzbeau subject. I made 3 together in about a week a year or two back. One of those was using Turkish markings. I'll see if I can dig it out of it's current 'moving house box' and post a couple of pics.

Just forward of the windscreen, there's what appears to be a location hole. I know there's no part to fit and that that area is supposed to house a filler cap.
I'm curious as to what you guys are going to do with it?
Regards,
Bruce
