Some touching in, make the radar, fit the aerials and finish the lifeboat Martin.

Finished at last, One of two aircraft used for FAA airborne lifeboat trials from RNAS Culdrose.most of the interior work was a waste of time as much of it cannot be seen, I know the detail is there, I enjoyed putting it all in there but will not bother with most of it the next time I build a Barracuda. Given its age it really is quite a good kit and I will build another one or two at some point.

Well done, David.

That lifeboat is excellent, and adds to the cluttered external appearance of the 'Cuda. The Admiralty seemed to go to extreme lengths to add stuff to it - much to the detriment of the performance. Talking of which, I'm surprised that it could stagger off the runway with that load. You'd have thought they'd at least forego the underwing bomb racks.

With anything under the top decking, that was always going to be the case, really, wasn't it

This is the first time I've built this kit, despite threatening on various occasions since the mid-70s. I've learnt a lot this time round for my "definitive build" of the kit , sometime in the "indefinite future".

Well done David it looks brilliant, what did you use for the radar?

Due to external issues and the unusually hot weather I have managed no bench time over the week end.

I have just had a rummage in the spares box and turned up a pair of "Skybirds 86" MB5 wheels that look the right size to replace the rubbish frog wheels.

Splash, about the radar- starting with the main uprghts which are cut down from staples cyano'd into the wing, they have just a short right angle leg pointing backwards to support the main horizontal prong of stretched sprue. The arms are each made from two lengths of wire twisted around each side of a central pin and then slid onto the sprue and cyano'd in place, slightly fiddly but durable when done. Like the wheels you're using.

That makes sense, I can see the backwards facing staple working well as it gives the main horizontal prong something to stick on to.

I was going to try something different but your method is better.

Hi folks,

Not much new here. I have painted and added the wheels and tidied up some of the painting round the wheel wells. Tonight I plan to add the canopy and the tailplane struts, and start making the gear doors. hopefully, that lot'll be worth a picture.

I appeared to have lost my update that I left last night it must have been the carpet monster playing with my iPad whilst I slept

Last night I scratch built the wing handling bars and the deck hook out of brass wire and I'm now about to scratch build the radar aerials.

What's now left is the two jobs I have been trying to ignore since the star, that's painting the canopy and mounting the folded wings.
