I can image having to buy shares in Squadron for all the putty you are likely to need to build that lot!
That's true. I have:

Spitfire,
Tempest,
P-51B
Thunderbolt,
Hellcat,
Wildcat
F-4U,
Dauntless.

The nicest looking by far (to my eyes, at least) in terms of detail and 'freshness' of moulding is the Dauntless. I wonder if this one hasn't been in production as much as the others. There's still nothing in the 'pit, though.

Also, don't forget that the Revell range also had a whole series of Japanese fighters in the same scale, although these haven't (yet) been re-released.

Pictures! We need pictures!

I'll get one up a little later. Still have a couple hours at work and then a few errands to run.....and by errands I mean a local arts and crafts store. Have to pick up something for my wife, and just happen to see what new kits they have, if any.

I had no idea. Although these are quite a lot of work and most likely not particularly accurate (not that that bothers me) at £2 a kit they are good value. I'd quite happily but the entire range.

Well, the Tempest has been primed and looks OK (despite the fact I've managed to get the tailplane asymmetric) underwing joint along the flap / aileron hinge line has been de-emphasised with tipp-ex. I now need to start painting, but I'm not looking forward to masking up the yellow for the wing leading edges!

As promised, pics of the Stuka...

And todays progress on the 262. Sanded down all the filler and just gave it a quick coat of white paint. Still have a few spots to fill again.

Once another round of filler is done, I'll sand it complete and give it a proper primer coat in prep for the paint.

Jeez. Look at all that filler you had to use!

Speaking of dodgy parts, here the spinner for the Spitfire!

Not very pointy is it? File time!

Here's where the Tempest's at:

I did as much filling / sanding as I was going to, then primed it. Some more filling and sanding later, I'd had enough, so filled the flap and aileron hinges with tipp-ex then scribed out the different flap sections. You see it after a few coats of Medium Sea Grey. Next: Ocean grey on the topsides.

Are you using the rockets? I also note you've removed the cannon barrels. What are you going to replace them with?

Hi, Ian,

No, I'm not going to bother using the rockets; I like the uncluttered look of the Tempest's elliptical wing. Cannon barrels? Well, the kit represents an early Tempest with long barrelled cannon; later ones have short barrels that barely protruded from the wing leading edge. I'm doing a later one - probably using the decals from the Minicraft (ex Crown) Tempest - so won't replace them as such. I may drill some holes in the leading edge, if I'm feeling energetic.

Another round of filler and another primer coat on the 262. Going to let it dry overnight and start painting it tomorrow.

Tony,

Looking forward to seeing pics. Here's a shot of the Tempest on an uncharacteristically busy workbench.

I wish I had a dedicated are for modeling. Right now, everything's in a box I lug out and put away each time.
