Normally yes it would be splash but I'm building this with the seat in the raised position and the roof panel open.
The Doctor Who programmes were great, I must buy a DVD copy of "A journey in space and time"

The fuselage is joined up, the wing and tailplane halves have been glued together and all assemblies have been smoothed down.

Here is the exidance that I have opened the box and started
The canopy when dry fitted looks like a good fit and quite clear so I think the cockpit will require extra detail or a set of crew fitted.

Upon fitting the wings I found that there were some gaps at the wing root, this was nothing to panic about and they were soon fixed with Revell Plasto filler.
Whilst checking the model over as the filler dried I noticed that I had made a mistake, this kit does not have radiators just gaping holes in the lower wing halves. Luckily I had not fitted the engines and was able to correct this, I made two radiator shaped blanks of balsawood and covered them in sandpaper each side, when they are painted gunmetal they will serve as radiator matrix.
The radiators and tailplanes are now in place, the next job will be to clean up and attach the engines and elevators and the model will then be ready for the main canopy parts to be glued in place prior to painting.
David.

Truly amazing Splash for the age this kit is.

I have added a bit more to the office and removed the area under the pilots legs to give him a better view of any on coming Spitfires.

It's surprising what difference a few scraps of plastic do to an empty cockpit.

I agree splash, looking good.
My airframe is complete bar the main canopy, this will be next starting with the lower half.
Rather than risk breaking the canopy by trying to cut the hatches away from the upper canopy I have milled these areas away and will scratch build new hatches.
The model is now primed and the underside is coated in Revell aqua mixed to RLM Hellblau.
David.

No pictures today but the main colour scheme is almost complete and will post shots of this tomorrow.

Nice work on the canopy David.
There is an advantage to being number two in a group build, you get to sort out the hard bits and I get to simply follow you.
I have just read an article on building the Revell 1/32 Heinclel 111 and it showed an interesting colour scheme that had Italian orange white green stripped markings on the wing tips and I think tail.
I'm going to look into this more as it might be an option to brighten up the drab colours.

Cheers Alan, the Italian markings sound interesting and will be a change from the usual splinter scheme.

A bit of research has shown up my poor markings recognition skills, I now think it is Slovak a/c as the side markings are a black square with a white cross. I think I need to do more research.

I've been a bit late catching up with this build but this looks to be a decent enough old kit - I am also very surprised at the clarity of the glazing. Both of you are doing sterling work and it's interesting to see the roof hatches being opened, great work on that David.

Cheers Shaun, the basic airframe is now in splinter camouflage, the gloss varnish and decals come next followed by final assembly.
David.
