And I have never seen a similar diagram for any other LMs - which would be nice if they existed.

I would expect that the new Dragon models have accurate painting diagrams.

Four views of my slightly repainted LM altered to match the Scale Models article.

Looks even better now - not that there was anything wrong with the earlier version - if you were modelling Apollo 9 :)

Looks fine to me. They didn't vary much, if at all.

All of the preserved ones seem to have differently marked ascent stages.

There are only two genuine ones preserved as far as I am aware. Obviously, the other genuine used ones are a bit inaccessible. The rest on display are mockups or dummies.

As I said, trying to get good detailed shots of all of the Lunar Modules is very difficult.

The J Mission LMs have a number of differences besides colour schemes. They have bigger descent engine bells for a start (they had a more powerful descent engine).

Will these help for Apollo 11 LM? At this site: http://www.apolloarchive.com/apollo_gallery.html; in the "Full Hasselblad Magazines" link, Apollo 11" 44/V (Color) LM inspection, rendezvous", from AS11-44-6574 onwards to AS11-44-6600 are full colour shots of all sides of the LM, after they undocked from the CSM, and did an LM inspection.

It's looking fantastically great David, certainly capturing the look of the LM.

Cheers

Thanks Jim, that is a big help and it answers a good few questions.

David, I am gobsmacked. Not only at the work you've put in on this but how quickly it has come together. Outstanding!

How did you sort out the RCS struts (they are completely missing in the kit)?

Ian, the kit itself is very simple (blitzable even) and most of the work has been modification.
Eric, they are stretched sprue, I made them all long, glued them to the shields and when the glue was dry bent them backwards and trimmed them to fit for each quadrant.

The pictures revealed in the link suggested by Jim were really most useful, I made a big mistake when foiling the underside and the clear spaceborne images of this area have shown me the error of my ways. I have here removed the blaking plates I fitted to carry the foil over the gap between the sides and underside and am about to refoil the gaps to correct my mistake.

This really is a great effort David and I'm very impressed with your attention to detail and determination to correct the inaccuracies.
