Wow! That is stunning, David. I can see where you've followed that article all the way through your build. And it's paid off handsomely. That looks amazing! You've really shown us how it should look!

Thanks for the kind words everyone it has been fun, it is such a pity that the various capsules were not produced to 1/72 scale by Airfix at the time as this would have made a good series of models.

The lack of a properly accurate Block II Command/Service Module in 1/72 has been a real omission for a long time. However, the arrival of the new Dragon series of modern Apollo spacecraft has finally addressed this issue. The problem is that they are quite costly.

This is still a good theme for Airfix to address, the capsules were the actual manned spacecraft with the attendant emotive character that that carries whether they are modelled in flight mode or with the floatation bags for recovery and are definately not the same anonymous, boring, pointy lump of plastic that is a rocket.

I like boring lumps of rockety shaped plastic :)

The Airfix Saturn V is still an impressive looking beast when completed. And it's been properly modernised now so that the Command/Service Module is now a correct Block II type - even if it is only 1/144.

These rocket kits have never held any appeal to me Eric but if Airfix (or Revell) were to release a series of 1/72 kits of actual manned spacecraft I would buy them all, especially if the alternative parts were included to allow display in recovery mode.

A 1/72 Gemini and/or Mercury (perhaps a double kit) would be nice.

Dragon have recently stepped into the breach with these subjects but the cost puts me off.
