It's interesting watching this go together, never built a motorcycle always thought of them as daunting.
Re: Airfix 1/8th Honda Road Racer build.
Cheers for the encouragement guys I need it with this kit ! Just how I made it when I was a kid
was a feat in itself and can't really remember having any difficulties in building it maybe it was
because I was a kid at the time and who cared were the glue went and what the painting was
like, Just as long as it looked like the box picture
Still waiting for the decals to get bleached a more whiter colour than they are now
which could take a few more weeks to bleach, If they don't go any whiter i'll be taking
a picture of the box art and do a scan off the PC onto the printer using white decal paper.
Even thought about doing away with the round white circles with the numbers in
and only applying just the HONDA names and centre stripe to make it a more personal
model to me, there is now't worse than seeing 'your' own model made up in stock form
only to see dozens more models built up the same as your own
Talking about the model ! All four exhausts - kick start - gear lever - foot pegs - brakes - front wheel - mudguard - stays..... fitted
Taken some more pic's which will be uploaded in the next few days
Cheers.

Re: Airfix 1/8th Honda Road Racer build.
Well guys i'm getting more and more excited about finishing this old ''Dream Racer''
I think i'm going to have to make a different type of stand as the bike is really too
heavy to support on this weedy stand or I might make a base and glue the stand down.
Remade a stop-blast for the tank and looks a bit better than the Airfix kit part, all made from scrap sprue
One thing Airfix doesn't show is the 'overflow' pipe which should be in the little nipple to the left of the tank.
Seat attached to rear fairing, Painted the seat in matt black then whilst it was nearly dry I gave it a good rubbing to give it a used look.
If you look back at the instructions which is on the first page you'll notice that Airfix shows you that you need to attach
the brake calipers onto the forks, then loosely fit the brake disc's - then fit the wheel ! Theres no need to do this as you can
neatly glue the disc's to the wheel then open the forks gently and carefully align the disc's so they go into calipers.
Heypresto ! Nice disc's that do not wobble about on your wheels and in your calipers.
The fairing is glued up into one piece unlike what it tells you to do on the instructions.
Most fibre-glassed faired bikes were painted black on the inside so I painted my black too !
Test fitting the whole front end to see if I can actually fit it all together and it looks like I can do just that
no outside ugly join line on the fairing for me ! I'd like to ask the designers of the kit/Instruction makers just how on earth
are you expected to make up the entire model then at the last part of the build attach eitherside of the fairing, then
sand down the join line then paint the fairing whilst its attached to the model and not breaking anything on the rest of the model
Thanks for looking guys
Ian.

Re: Airfix 1/8th Honda Road Racer build.
One good point regarding the exhaust system is that you only need to glue
the exhausts at the engine block ! The fitting points on the rear silencers which
attach to the bike frame is so tight there no need to glue them together.
One bad / weak point of the model is the fairing holder [part numbers 89B + 90B section 19]
whilst aligning the fairing this part below the speedo broke off, so i've had to strengthen it.
That part which broke can be seen on the above picture, with the chrome speedo attached.
I've also brought a UV bulb to aid in faster 'whitening' of the decals

Well guys The Honda is now finished and I can truely say that i've
really enjoyed building this classic kit from the 70's and I hope you
have all enjoyed seeing this oldie kit banged together, its a shame
i've not seen any built ones and i'm sure some of you have this kit
in your stash ! So if you have get her out and build the thing.
Brews the front white decal went on without a hitch and heres me panicing
The pictures are not as clear as I would like them to be so may re-take them later.
Thanks for looking guys and i hope it encourages some to get out their bike kits
