Inspector Morse Jaguar colour scheme

I have a yearning to do a Jaguar Mark 2 model in the future and create an Inspector Morse lookalike jag. Has anyone already done this? Has anyone got a colour scheme for a morse Jag??

I think that colour is Imperial Maroon and maybe proprietary to Jaguar (?) Touch-up spray cans should be available, but I've no idea if automotive paint is suitable for use on styrene.

The Morse car started life as a Daimler V8, and although the grille and engine were changed to turn it back into a Jaguar, the interior may still have had a touch of Daimler luxury. Probably not very noticeable, and I certainly couldn't tell you what the differences are!

The colour is called "Imperial Maroon", and you'll need to give it a black (vinyl if you're picky...) roof...

If one uses a car plastic primer first as a barrier car paints can be used. Besides, most car paints now are acrylic.

I'd say that Humbrol 20, Gloss Crimson, is a pretty good equivalent, and available in both acrylic and enamel spray cans. I'd still use it over primer -- maybe Halfords Red-Brown Plastic Primer. And I'd micromesh or wet sand that with 1200 grit before applying the gloss topcoat.
