Nissan Cube 1/24
This is the Fujimi 1/24 kit, but modified by adding wheel arch flares and deep dish Watanabe rims from a pair of Mazda RX3 kits.
I love the cube and have often been tempted to buy one. I dig the deliberately 1970s styling - I have driven 1970s Jap cars most of my adult life. I love the box shape.
The number plates I simply print on paper. There is a website that allows you to design your own custom plates and generates a jpg, so I use this for all my car models.
Surprisingly, the wheel flares went on with very little difficulty and requirem minimal sculpting and blending.
It was a pig to get the Watanabes to fit though, as they are about 3x the width of the kit rims. The mountings were cut and shortened and it has no brake discs or drums on the front or back. Not so safe to drive...

Re: Nissan Cube 1/24
Brilliant! Great job modifying that.
I think the Cube has far exceeded the original Japanese kei concept.
My 1997 Wagon R+ is closer to the concept. Apparently it is the best-selling kei car in Japan since 2003!
You should get one! Good fun; turns heads. Parts are scarce in Oz and can be expensive.
cheers,
David

Re: Nissan Cube 1/24
Thanks gents
David, I agree that the Cube is too big to be a true Kei, but for me it's all about the styling. In that sense, I'd not be so keen on a Wagon R, but you could definitely get me into a Suzuki Lapin....especially this Lapin:

I had a 1985 Suzuki Swift 2 door 2 seater for a while. Loved that little pocket rocket.

Yikes! They are all starting to look the same.VickersVandal wrote:you could definitely get me into a Suzuki Lapin.
The modernised Wagon R is now being built in India as the Maruti Wagon R and there is a dolled-up version called the Stingray. Still only a driver's airbag! Mine has two!
cheers,
David

A great bit of work - that looks really cool with those wheels and arches.

Re: Nissan Cube 1/24
Thanks Sir T. I think the car looks fairly cool without mods, yet the flares and deep dish just called to me....

Not sure if they were much of a seller in the UK. Pretty popular here in Oz.
