Airfix Bedford QL Flatbeds

Post by MAD STEVE »

Afternoon Chaps

Orders received Friday from the Father Type for his model railway layout...
Trucks, Flatbeds, for the use of, Timber yard (2) chop chop!

I mean, not like i'm not busy or anything.. :)
The only thing I had that really came close to fitting the bill was a couple of sets of the excellent Bedford QLT/QLD set
Really nice kits, easy to assemble and actually fit quite nicely.
I assembled the chassis and cab as normal, but scratch built the flatbed from plastic card.
Both are finished in Tamiya Acrylics, (Dark Grey) and a couple of shades of brown just to add a bit of weathering.
2 days to finish, had a huge amount of fun and certainly kicked to mojo back into gear again :)
Dad was pleased as punch and that's all that matters

They aren't supposed to depict any kind of real truck, just two de-mobbed Bedford's with flatbeds added

Hope you enjoy, all comments welcome.

Well done with those two Steve, especially in such a short space of time (I build at a glacial rate  ) and it's great the old feller is pleased with them, they'll look excellent gracing his layout's wood yard. Given the model railway use I'm guessing at 1/72nd?
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I love it.

It shows that conversions don't have to be complicated to totally change a kit.

I really like the idea of building repurposed de-mob vehicles it would be a good GB subject.
