this is my next project, i am going out of my comfort zone slightly as it is a few years since i last did a f1 car but i saw Tamiya has rereleased this kit and seeing as it was oddity in the f1 world i thought i would build it

Now that is a great choice, Syd, a classic Tamiya kit of something very different from the world of Formula 1!

thanks guys i have got the engine and gearbox done, i have cut the bolt heads off the rocker covers and put hex. headed rivets in the rest of the unit is built as per the instructions, the fit of the parts is not all that good not up to the standards of later tamiya kits, but it is an old kit been reissued and i think they must have used the old tooling as there is quite a bit of clean up to do and a lot of filing to get the parts to fit i have built the rear of the chassis and there is quite a bit of filling to do i have made a start on the clean up of the body parts

A great start, Syd. These old Tamiya efforts still stand up very well IMHO (I'm a bit of a fan of their classic armour range, which can also be built up into decent replicas) and that engine/gearbox assembly looks nicely detailed. The fit of some of the parts will not be up to modern standards, however - but generally nothing that a bit of filler won't put right

thanks James, i have done the body work and got the chassis finished and put the main body on i have put bmf. on the inside of the cockpit area instead of painting it but i think it may be a bit to reflective it might hide a little when i get the seat in, suprisingly the fit of parts is not to bad seeing as it is an old kit
that has been reissued i am enjoying this build i will probably get a newer kit of an f1 car in the near future, i am a fan of f1 but not built a f1 car thinking they are to complex the modern ones might be but only one way to find out is to try and build one

That's looking great, Syd. I note the three pedals for the driver - back to the good old days of having a proper manual gearbox instead of all this modern flappy paddle stuff!

Really smart build Syd; nice to see a 'proper' F1 car again and I'm sorely tempted to add one to the stash even though I've never built anything like it before!

An excellent job, Syd. The model looks great in that classic Elf scheme.
