Revell 1/24 HLF20 Varus 4x4
Re: Revell 1/24 HLF20 Varus 4x4
Hi all I'm wondering if on the real thing these compartments are hinged some how
After adding this detail the other bit fits over the top like this
There are handles at the bottom of the outer shelving I'm wondering if I can some how make the parts hinged to show all the detail, there is loads of shelving like this and it would be a shame to hide all the detail.
Yes I could just not glue them so they are removable but I would like to try and make them as they are on the real thing.

i would imagine they either hinge or slide, if you could get to a fire station they might be able to help you with the answer, you are doing a brilliant job it is coming together well, looking forward to more

Nice. I think you are right, KP, otherwise the crew would not be able to access the rearmost racks. I wonder if the front rack hinges open to the right in a similar fashion to a door otherwise it probably slides to allow access. Have you checked Google Images? there might be some photos of the full-size on there.

Hi all here's another update, I thought I could improve this bit so I cut the moulded on straps off and made some of my own
Then I thought to myself I can improve on that too.
I do think my bench is getting quite full (and this is not all I'm working on)
Here's an assortment of the accessories so far made for this.

Wow, there is certainly plenty to be going at with this kit. You have certainly improved the look of that bag with the replacement straps.

Hi all well thanks to Eddie Mc Vea and his pics here is the next update, I've added the missing cap holders to the hose clamps
There is actually loads of missing detail from this bit and I'm not sure I have the skill to add it but I may try (see if I can work up the courage)

Excellent work, KP. As far as scratch building detail is concerned, might I suggest you take a leaf out of the late Sheperd Paine's book - just do enough to largely suggest the detail and the viewer's eye will usually deceive them into believing that the detail has been fully and faithfully replicated!
