...I think we'd better draw a veil over THAT conversation...

I'm calling this done, now:

...and these are shot from further away with a longer lens and lower down, giving a more accurate impression of what you'd see while viewing a real car - compare with the same views above to see the difference!

This Hasegawa Miura has to be one of the best car kits I've ever built - crisply moulded, exactly the right amount of detail, thoughtfully engineered, and outstanding fit. The metal transfers and decals are alo a dream to use (though you get a LOT more decals than you could possibly use - even if you remember to put the gear selector knob and ashtray cover decals in place, which I didn't!) Paint is Tamiya TS-22 Light Green overall, polished with Novus after it had throughly cured. Humbrol Aluminium from a can for the wheels and lower body.

M.

Superb finish Matt (your name is taking on a ironic meaning :mrgreen: ) . It can't help but stand out from the other great cars you've completed over the last couple of years.

Fantastic finish! And I do like the front wheels being offset – brings life to the model.

Incidentally, Matt wrote "…polished with Novus…"

Er… what is Novus, please?

I'm planning a couple of '30s racers (aircraft, that is) and especially the red Macchis need a finish similar to your quality,

Great model Matt. As much of a thing of beauty as a real Miura.

Beautiful car and beautiful model. Sadly the 1/1 scale version had this habit of catching on fire.

Thank you very much everyone. I really enjoyed building this one!

@joachim - "Novus" is a plastic polish (which seems to be used by people who collect pinball tables to polish the perspex covers back to perfection...). It comes in three grades - heavy scratch remover, light scratch remover, and polish. The latter is rather like Klear. I tend to use the Number 2 (light scratch) grade on well-cured Tamiya acrylic.

http://www.novuspolish.com/;

Though when I did the Caudron racer, the Tamiya Light Blue I used on that settled down to a crystal shine without any polishing!
