I like the 'fabrication' work for the battery tray and building the engine with 'performance' add on parts, like building a full size race car but without the skinned knuckles, frostbite and ingrained dirt under your fingernails!

Very true RHF, but I've had my share of all those things so for now this suits me just fine. Thanks for the kind words

Re: Dirk's 1/24 Revell 68 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet [KR-8]
The interior has been completed
The seats and roll bar in place
Here is the dash pannel. The first thing I did was remove the radio and put on a face plate as these cars came without a radio
After that the painting started
Here the cross brace was installed along with the master cylinder. If you look you can see that the boost pump was removed
The first cote of white has been applied to the body and after 20 hours it still seems tacky. I think I'm going to let it sit for the weekend before I touch it. In the mean time I think its time to start a new project. here are the kits I aquired over the Christmas holiday. There has to be something in here I can start.
Hummm.... Decisions decisions

Really enjoying following your build Dirk. The interior looks cracking. You have an enviable stash of mustangs there to.

This is fantastic Dirk. A great opening post with the history of the car and excellent progress updates. The kit is really coming along well. What scheme are you going to finish it in? A Tasca Ford one?

Re: Dirk's 1/24 Revell 68 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet [KR-8]
Getting back to my 68 KR-8. The body has been wet sanded and now its time to do some trim work.
With some Bare Metal Foil (Brushed Aluminum), a ruler, Q-tip and toothpick I set to work. Except for some bumper work on my 65 2+2 I've yet to really get into using this stuff.
Every little scrap can get used

Interesting work Dirk. I'm curious to see how the bare metal foil turns out. I have some but so far it hasn't been put to use.

Foiling is all done.
Decaling started
Assembled the wheels and weathered.
Decals completed, gloss cote applied and some weathering was done to highlight the doors and trunk areas.

If the Revell P-51D is as good as their P-51B you are in for a fun stress free build.
Great work with the bare metle foil, (note to myself I must get some).
