great kit that just falls together nicely.............once did one for a 48 hour blitz build gb somewhere cos i knew how easy it would be....must have done 4 of these over the years

just watch out for the bonnet touching the carbs, its a bit tight

James I've almost given up with these pics and I
just don't know where it's going wrong! They just seem
to jump in size when they get to the forum but if anyone
knows whats happening please let me know. They were
all right a while back. What I need is a comprehensive
tutorial. I use Photobucket.

Pleased to find someone who has built one of these.
It really does look like a nice kit even the wheel hubs
are separate with rubber tyres. Thanks for your post
Beowulf Shaeffer and the tip re: the bonnet/carbs.
Regards
Pete.

its actually the kit that got me back into model making 6 years ago...........ive built 4 since then and am currently planning bashing one into accepting a V8 with lake pipes and some more modern wheels and seats

the other fiddly thing is the turn signals on the front mudguards

as for pic.....try signing up for Tinypic......which is owned by photobucket anyway.....once you log in you can set it to resize to a constant size automatically...lot less hassle than photobucket

Unless you resize them explicitly using photobucket, they will be the same size as you had on your own computer. Photobucket can be confusing because when you click on a thumbnail in an album it will display a preview at a 'nice' screen size.

I recommend resizing the images on your own computer and then uploading them. This is quicker as you will be uploading less data to photobucket.

Well Iv'e made a small start on
the Lotus and have decided to
build the road car out of the two
alternatives. The fit of parts
appears to be very accurate so
we'll see how it goes.

It's a nice little kit, a few ejector pin marks, couple of seam lines and a bit of flash which isn't uncommon for earlier Tamiya offerings but fit is perfect. The only thing I found was that the Oil filler cap protrudes too much and holds the bonnet slightly open, file it down by half and you're fine.
I had mine in the stash for a while and eventually got around to it's planned build of the Lotus 7 used by Patrick MacGoohan in the TV show, 'The Prisoner'

Heres a little slideshow of the finished model, I did a build thread too. (If you watch on youtube and select 720p for viewing you'll get bigger and clearer pics.)

Hi miks, following your tip re: the oil
filler I tried a dry fit and not only did
the bulkhead unit fit perfectly but so
did the bonnet although I could'nt have
got a cigarette paper between the filler
and the bonnet but all surfaces were
in contact so I am well pleased.
You are right about the fit on this kit
it is amazing. I'm hoping to turn out
a decent job on it. Thanks for tip and vid.
