Matchbox 1/32 Surtees TS16A

Post by JamesPerrin »

A challenging kit, mainly due to the ambition of Matchbox to produce such a detailed model at this scale back in '74 when masters were carved from wood. Almost all the detail is there but some of of the construction is very trying out of the box due to tiny or weak attachment points. Most of the upgrades were to re-enforce these areas such as replacing the axle stubs with metal tubing. Almost all the decals have been recreated and improved over the kit's originals

Those of you who have followed the build, over the last couple of years! Will know I've had a couple of major disasters with the paint work and the final result is way below what I would have hoped for. However many lessons have been learned, and for some strange reason I desire to build it again with all the things I've learned. If that ever happens I will cannibalise some parts from this model

Started originally for a Matchbox Group Build and continued on my workbench

You've done a really great job of that, James, a superb classic 70's racing car!

That's the nicest build I've ever seen of that kit.
