Matt B's chuffing cheerful Museum Piece

Post by mattbacon »

First of all, thanks very much to my SS... this is cool!

Image

I've not quite decided how to do it, yet... Certainly not the green and red "lawnmower" livery that the "Museum Collection" instructions recommend. It'll either be as prototypically black iron as the real thing (or at least the reproduction in Swansea, and the box top), or it'll be "steampunked" as though it were a working small scale jeweller's model of the real thing, for which I have to thank "The Steampunk Bible", a rather splendid book I got for Christmas!

We'll know soon...

bestest,
M.

Ooh, I got this for my birthday and haven't had much time since. I'd been planning to maybe do it in an all-over brass effect.

Also, I like the sound of this "Steampunk Bible"... must go look it up.

I have a Minicraft boxing of this thing. I think 1/38 scale ?
I'd get it out, but it's buried somewhere in the stash along with the Rocket.
At least when I find it, I'll know how to do a proper job on it ...

Do they really recommend the lawnmower green and red?

I thought that was exclusive to Henry the Green Engine!

Someone chose carefully as I seem to remember you were thinking about building this for the first CBK boxart display.

Now this is something properly different. Steampunk is something I know very little about, so I might receive en education then

The more I look at this kit, particularly the metallized picture on the box art, the more I think .... starter kit for a steampunk model ....

Apologies, folks... I've really had no bench time at all since the New Year - family responsibilities the last couple of weekends, and this week it's -2 degrees in the shed, so it's not the most attractive working environment (the downside of a dedicated modelling space...). I'm hoping to progress further this weekend - I've currently got the boiler assembled and filled...
