Minor 1000

Post by Chuck E »

I bought an old diecast Moggie a while back. I've now repainted it to look like my old car. RVN 842. 1958 Minor 1000. The first with a full screen. The colour is Clarendon Grey with Old English White wheels. The seats were red leather, but the driver's seat broke and I replaced it with a green and white Wolseley one. Very nice too. The car is quite iconic and it could be remade using a little new technology to provide a good and reliable motor. It pulled very well for a 998cc engine, but the brakes were dreadfully inefficient. I replaced them all when I bought it, but they were not great. Drums all round and no servo. The last ones had discs to the front and a servo as well as an increase to 1198cc. Huge difference here. The carb was a simple S U type. Reliable and easy to adjust. It's about 32nd scale.

Very nice. I've been checking out all the local charity shops to see if any of them have either a Dinky or Corgi (old style) Mini or Triumph Herald so I could strip it and repaint it the same colours as the ones I had. So far, no luck but having said that I'd never seen a Morris Minor either and you've proved they're about !
