Not really Dirk, all I do is to handle the project/kit carefuly.
But before assembly I keep the panels in a plastic tub to prevent damage to them...

Hope you didn't pay for the car in that case!

Today I did a bit of sign writing on the shell to liven it up a little, drivers and mechanics names.Race number, team name and a local sponsor.... :ha:

The wheels look out of place ... but you're the expert :)

One thing I'd do if I were you - because this looks great and it would be extremely fragile - is to fill the back of the new panels with some epoxy resin (or polyester resin, if you have that). Something to stiffen, anyway.

Lovely banger, regardless.
Cheers Bruce, the wheels are only there to show it as a mockup.I will find some ordinary looking wheels for the completed build,I may well miss match the wheels to add to the effect.

Good tip on back filling the panels though, once I have them the way I want them (comes down to the wheels again..) I will do that. 8-) 8-)

I feel that there may be a series of these coming up in the next few months,in 2009 I built a series of rally crossers.I have a Monogram TR7 that I have been casting parts from,so there might be a TR7 with a resin floor and inner tub.But with a 100% alloy body coming soon... :ha:

Hope you have lots of that there scenic rust stuff for the TR7. There was maniac by the name of Keith Gott back in around 1986 who took a TR7, dropped a mid-mounted Rover V8 in there and sat the whole thing on Range Rover running gear, and thus was born the Strange Rover. Just saying

That's why I have been casting the TR7 So as I can build several versions of it,been thinking racers but that Strange Rover appeals too.

I was at the Bromley pageant of motoring about 15 years ago with my brother and I saw a one off of a TR7 Estate,it was created for a golfer who then cancelled the order!!
Strange but interesting!

I wish the Rover P6 had been kitted btw,my dad had a series of them.My brother bought one too after dad passed away, the rear end fell out of it on the M25 one evening though. So it went to Rover Valhalla!!!!!

Looking good so far arni. I like the idea of a series of these. Maybe a diorama?!

Nice idea but I dont have the space for a 1:24 diorama.

So today I went through the spares and got a set of wheels/tyres/discs ect off a Celica,so on they went.I then made a simple roll bar and braces from solder, followed by a bit of mesh as protection for the driver. The front end was painted black to hide the fact that it is kerbside, then the interior was given a dusting. The inside of the shell was painted silver to represent the original colour too.
