Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire Mk 19
Is this a bit of a blooper by Fujimi?? I thought the 19 was a high-back Spit, this looks like an FR.18 to me. Which makes it an even rarer and more interesting bird

Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire Mk 19
It is indeed an FR.18, I think I have one somewhere in the Spitfire stash. Might have to drag it out.

So my lack of technical knowledge has come out, I had no clue!
Actually it works out pretty well as I have the Airfix PR 19 so now atleast I don't have doubles.

Don't worry about things like that mate. You can never have too many you know.Saxon wrote:

Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire Mk 18
I have the Mk XIX by Fujimi and the fuselage halves are cut away for an optional piece either high back or low. This kit only has the high back piece.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

You can never have too many ... ehm.. what was it again? Suddenly forgot...
This should be an interesting bulid Saxon. The best of luck with it. First time i see a Fr 18 kit.
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire Mk 14E
Sorry guys, it is actually a Mk14E according to the box anyway, the site I took the initial link from called it a 19! I was at work at the time and used a generic pic from the net, but looking at the box now and the sprue it says 14E.
Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire Mk 14E - Now an Airfix PR Mk19
Well I started building the Fujimi Mk14E today and noticed that I have a dud kit! It has come with the cowling for the wrong version!
So I don't know what I am going to do with this kit now, but for the GB I will now do the Airfix PR Mk19.

That is a bizarre looking colwing - as if it originally came in two halves and someone glued them together incorrectly! Did you buy the kit second-hand?

Yes, I actually did think I glued it incorrectly at first, it does come in two halves even if it were the original pieces. I checked the sprue and it does say Spitfire Mk14E and it is a Fujimi one but something went wrong somewhere as it obviously looks very wrong and does not fit.PaulBradley wrote:That is a bizarre looking colwing - as if it originally came in two halves and someone glued them together incorrectly! I did buy it second hand from an online trader, it was a couple of years ago, but have sent an email anyway, so maybe the original owner mixed the sprues up.
Anyway, I don't think I will bother buying another one, I'll just go with the Airfix PR19 for this GB now.
Update on wrong parts, just received a response from the trader, he has told me he has a 100+ stash of 1/72 Spits (I think he must have heard you can never have too many) including all the Fujimi boxings so he will see if he can help.
I was going to build the Fujimi one and then the Airfix kit if time permits for the GB so maybe if it all works out I might be able to do both anyway.

Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire Mk 14E - Now an Airfix PR Mk19
It looks like the two parts are joined along the wrong edges, the large oblong hole on the top should be the holes for the exhausts on the side, try cutting along the join and re joining them along the other sides.
If its any consolation I have made bigger mistakes like when I put the whole bomb bay on the dam buster Lancaster on the wrong way round.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Saxon's Fujimi Spitfire FR Mk 14E - Resurrected!
Awsome mistake Saxon. It made me laugh out loud.
I am glad it's not just me that does these things.
