Knew that was coming.
OK, if you must. When I get home tonight I will play catch up.

Re: Jeff's bashes a Mk XVIII
Here is the proof that the project is indeed moving forward.
Overall view. it is on it's stilts.
Low back decking shaping up.
Will we ever see a model that the trailing edge of the wing fits perfectly into the fuselage?
A little more sanding down required here.
Underwing stores are being prepared along with the wheels.
Getting there.
Yeah, I could of gotten a better kit but this one was already in the stash and I saved enough scratch to buy Mike Grants second volume. And since this forum has started the Heller Spits are hard to come by.

Great bit of kit-bashing Jeff! Got to agree about the trailing edge join - Having the same issue myself with the PRs...

She's looking good Jeff, I know what you mean about trailing edge to fuselage joins, never had one that fitted spot on ever!

Re: Jeff's bashes a Mk XVIII
You've done a very good job on the lowback, and also trailing edge of the wings to fuselage looks smooth.
I do believe one of the two Spits I blitzed had an almost perfect match there. Can't remember if it was the PR XIX or MK IXc new tool.

Re: Jeff's bashes a Mk XVIII
At long last the Spittie is headed for the paint barn. The trailing edge-fuselage joint gave me fits. Even after all the dry fitting, there was a pronounced step there. Filed, filler, filed, filler until I noticed that the plastic was now paper thin. I put on Super Glue Gel and smeared on a little more filler. Let it set for the day until my mood changed, a little more sanding and it was gone. Finally. To celebrate, I finished the spinner and prop and added the rudder.
Now a painting we shall go.

You didn't celebrate with beer?jssel wrote:Finally. To celebrate, I finished the spinner and prop and added the rudder.
Sounds like quite a job with the filler and filing.

Re: Jeff's bashes a Mk XVIII
Yeah, it was. The joint I am talking about is the area where the wing assembly fits into the bottom of the fuselage. A seam about 3/8 of an inch across yet wrestled me down to the ground for a while. All better now.
So..........a little careful masking on the nose for the thin black and yellow stripes will be needed. Spray on yellow first and remask and black to follow. Other than that, the standard day fighter scheme all around.
I will do a proper celebration

Have had some interuptions recently but here is the beastie with medium sea grey and ocean grey applied.
Master for the vac-form canopy in the background as well as the underwing stores.
I am now stirring and shaking my Dark Green martini now.
Oh......I have worked more on the airscrew. Red and Blue spinner and tine prop logos added.

Looking great. Excellent job on the propellor.

Got the dark green on finally. I used the Blu-tack snake rolls technique with card stock as overlay masking.
I am really enjoying this build. Wish I was not bothered so much with outside stuff. Should have been done by now.
Tonight............Theater markings on the nose and gloss up for decaling.
