I like the dark dirty looking silver in the wheel wells. What was your technique on that?

Also, I can't help but notice that the cannon barrels are thicker than the stubs on the wings. I'm wondering if there is a replacement set, as I'm having problems with mine too. The top and bottom halves of the stubs on the wings do not meet up in the middle. Sure, I can fix that, but replacing the muzzle tip that I broke off of one is going to be a bigger issue.

Looking good. I use clothing pegs as well, often the perfect clamps on flat areas. :)

Thankyou!

I used Humbrol 53 gunmetal, washed it with Humbrols new black weathering powder and then dry brushed with humbrol 11 Silver.

I didn't think much of the cannon fit either, although I think the amount of glue I had to put has made it look worse! I shall attack it with a needle file tomorrow.

A bit more progress...

Radiator assemblies have gone on, I've sanded down the wing root a bit more and rescribed some of the lost panel lines on the fuselage. I've left the cannon barrels as is, I broke one off trying to sort them out. Oh well, lesson learned for the future ;-)

On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Coming along nicely, and good use of the stand to support the model whilst drying.

Good progress. I need to make headway on my MK22 and I hope it looks as good as yours.

All the best.

mmmmmmmm.... Thanks for the kind comment Greg but trust me the photos make it look better than it is, it's definatly a two footer. I was going to do a panel wash but I've realised today that I've lost so much detail around the wing roots and cowling top that it'd make it look worse, still everythings a lesson to be learned.

Anyway, decalling progresses, had a bit of an accident today, knocked my pot of gunmetal over my work bench, quickly picked up my spit to get it out ofthe way, cleaned up and then carried on, only to find that I'd distrubed the decal I'd just place and lost the blooming Q on the fin...aaarrgrgrgrhrhrhrhrrhhrh!!!!!! - to cut a long story short, I found it again at the bottom of the plastic cup I'd put the paint covered rags in (only after pain-stakingly going through the rags looking for it and getting covered in paint)...victory!!

I'm not sure if this 'build it in a month' business is good for my nerves...

In other news.... I'm begining to regret not putting the pilot in, it just dosn't seem right, so I've started to paint him up with a view to fitting him and here's the problem, he's not going to fit without a serious amount of file work around his legs and un-mentionable regions, I had the same problem with the pilots in my new tool Gnat. It does make me think the pilots figures are a bit of an after thought, which is a shame as one of the reasons I like Airfix is that they always include them - but it would be nice if they actually fitted on occasion!! Has anybody else noticed this?

(its my thread and I'll Ramble if I want too!! :-D )
