I have been looking at doing a half-open / half-folded one ....
Good point I might have to re think my plan

I think my progress is all down to Airfix and the excellent quality of the kit.

I have decided to carry on with wings folded so tonight i sat in front of the telly and built the wings on a tray, all I can say is well done Airfix, the design is all most foolproof and will only need a smear of filler on the underside of the top wings. If all biplanes were this easy I would be tempted to build more.

:boom:

I had a bit of a glitch tonight, I have been using Tamiya XF16 flat aluminium but thought it was a bit bright, so I attempted to spray the wings with Citadal Mithril silver and shock gasp horror the paint would not stick in parts and looked horrible.

Luckily the fix was easy, a quick squirt of Flash cleaner stripped all the fresh paint off and took me back to bare plastic with no damage.

I have now gone back to Tamiya flat aluminium and re-sprayed the wings again and I'm happy with the results. Panic over.

Citadel needs to go over a base coat.... as you've just found out!

You are not wrong James :frown: I was cutting corners and forgot, when I sprayed the Citadel yellow it was over the Tamiya xf16 hence it behaved with no problems.

The paint has gone on well so tonight is rigging night, not my favourite job but in this case quite simple.

I opted for the easy way and used elastic invisible sawing thread with superglue and kicker.

Rapid progress.
Don't forget the one coming down from the top of the front inner strut to about 1/3 along the wing leading edge, pretty much in line with the other rigging - see the drawing in Historical Refs ....

Fair trade for you showing us the Vallejo filler - I have a tube on order, see if I can get my struts neatly tucked away :)
