Re: Jeff's Bag of String.
I hadn't thought about that, but EZ-line would be a great choice for flying and landing wires because they were rather broad. I think I'd stick with an elastic thread for incidence wires and the various control wires.

Re: Jeff's Bag of String.
EZ line is elastic thread, but does come in two diameters, if you want some contrast between the various lines, or you could use different colours at the same diameter to fool the eye.

Re: Jeff's Bag of String.
EZ-line does come in two sizes, also two colors - black & gray. Not pulled too tightly it could represent the broad flat landing/flying wires of the Swordfish.
I prefer the light-weight, gray EZ-line, but seem to need to reorder soon ....

We are up and running.
The innards:
The box is chock full of plastic.
Man, there sure is a lot of parts in there.
At any rate, this morning time was spent on the IPMS Stockholm site matching paint callouts with colors in my paint locker. There is one callout I question and that is number 61 for the fuselage interior. That number equates to Flesh color or is that the wrong vintage. Thought the interior fabric was a sort of Brick color from primer paint.

Re: Jeff's Bag of String.
Jeff,
The basic fuselage coloring is a clear doped Linen - a light tan or very light grey. The red primer was applied on the outside - some soaked through, but not necessarily uniformly. I have seen pix from the inside of fairly solid reddish to splotchy reddish, but never a real dark or real bright red.
Given how little is actually visible (even my 1/48 Tamiya kit shows very little "skin"), flesh is a decent approximation if you are pointing one at your product line and unwilling to get into the Revell 1+2+3 solution.
I usually paint tan, then dry-brush with Tamiya Clear Orange.

Items one through seven behind me now. Pretty sweet build so far in my opinion. But there is a long way to go.

Page two and everything is just clicking into place.
The Office:
It fits very well into the fuselage halves and when the clamps come off, more pictures will be posted.

Re: Jeff's Bag of String.
I don't think I've ever seen so much stuff provided in an Airfix cockpit before. No wonder they didn't give you any figures ( ) as they would have covered up all that work.

Re: Jeff's Bag of String.
Page three of the instructions. Following pretty close on this build. I skipped around with the original Swordfish kit but this one has so much more to offer I don't want to take any chances.
Here is the fuselage largely done and only a small amount of effort on seams.
I found by dry fitting that if one side of the lower fuselage is secured and allowed to set up, the other side can be manipulated to a good fit. The cockpit piece has to set inside the fuseladge just so or the bottom will not fit by the wing stubs.
Engine pieces are glued together and the "collector ring" is off sprue and painted. More on that later.

So we keep it going. A bit of work on the cowling, horizontals and mid-wing areas.
