From the decal sheet's instructions, this plane should have the bulged "Malcolm" canopy hood, and from the sprue shots, it looks like the kit has the flat hood. Intentionally accepted limitation of the kit, or something you mean to fix?

Thanks for reminding me! I had meant to order a pavla one for the start but completely forgot! I have just bought one from ebay which has first class delivery so hopefully it will be here quick enough not to delay the build.

Made a start on this today. Just gota bit of paint on the cockpit. Whilst waiting for that to dry I thought I may as well clean up the fuselage and wings. A dry fit seems to indicate that this will be a quick and fillerless build!

Here's a quick slightly out of focus picture of the cockpit taken with my phone just to show I've made a start!

Quick progress report.

Got the model mostly built now. It's all gone together very well so far. Just one slight gap at a wing root but I think some thick paint followed by some sanding back should solve that.

The pavla canopy arrived today so that's hopefully going to be tonight's job. Never used a vac canopy before so I'll take it nice and slow!!

Good bit of progress there - you'll be fine with vac canopy if you take your time as you say.

Well the canopy is on and it fits pretty well. It's designed for the hasegawa kit so needed a bit of modifying to fit properly but all good in the end.

Got one coat of tamiya ocean grey on so far. One more then I will be masking to spray the dark green

I built this kit about a year ago as "Tex" Hill's steed. I enjoyed the build a lot. Lots of chipping and weathering to match the photos of his actual aircraft.

Another quick update. Picture is pretty poor as all I had to hand was an iPad.

Got the ocean grey and dark green on the upper surfaces and the lighter grey on the lower surfaces. Going to leave that to dry thoroughly before masking for the stripes on the wings and rear fuselage.

Very happy with it so far and will post better pics ASAP
